RNC spend $US150,000 on clothes for Palin

Nope. She does like designer clothes.

This $150,000 is for the whole Palin family isn't it? If we want to get into who out of the Obama and Palin family are more "in touch" why not look at such things like what schools their kids go to?

yea..cos the 10 y/o needs a designer LV bag, get real, look at Cindy McCain swanning around in a $300,000 outfit on the eve of the Republican convention.

yea lets look at the school results too..daughter 17 knocked up with a kid who calls himself a "red neck hockey jock"...marvellous upbringing, I know who's kids I'd rather care for.

and lets look at the mum, frankly she looks like a high class escort & that's being generous.

I'm talking about one family coming from a small town, kids going to public schools compared to the Obama family in a wealthy part of town going to an expensive private school.

The Republicans unlike Democrats have no problems with people spending money on themselves. They dont think its a bad thing to have wealth.

Why has the whole family got a makeover.
Why the need to spend these funds on that sort of expense.

Why can't she afford to kit herself and her family out in poper attire for the new job?
She is a Governor afterall.

Also, when is this rubbish of an election finished with.
enough already.

to me she looks like any other redneck with fancy clothes re: Britney Spears, she might look okay to you but she has NOTHING between those ears except recipes for moose stew

She cooks as well!

Considering that this election process will probably cost over $1 billion in campaigning (propaganda) by the republocrats, the clothes cost is just a small drop in this ocean of political slime.

The way I see it is if the cold hearted Palin thinks that rape victims should pay for their own rape kits, then the cold hearted **** should pay for her own clothes.

Seriously, Palin disgusts me. Who cares if she looks good, that is not enough to hold such a high office.

Obama steady government? Inexperienced and one the most liberal senators with what some would call a crazy guy for VP? Not so sure if that is "steady".

Nothing wrong with liberals senators at all, why are they a problem to you? I hope you are not swollowing Michele Bachmann'a train of thought.....

Funny how you compare Biden to a crazy guy, when Palin is a crazy gal and McCain is old and out of touch, who really has no real plans for the USA except bombing Iran and flip flopping on everything else. McCain would have to be one of the biggest hypocrites around the USA. As for the "inexperienced" Obama, what is Palin? McCain is at that age where he could drop off the perch at any moment and the inexperienced Palin will take over. The USA will fall apart under her.

McCain would have been better to have won the nomination in 2000 when he still had his marbles.

Cam continues to try and defend to indefensible

Palin's dressing up sparks a dressing-down

  • October 25, 2008
POLITICAL ethics campaigners have lodged a formal complaint over the $US150,000 ($A220,000) the Republican Party spent to dress vice-presidential hopeful Sarah Palin in fashionable clothes.
In a submission to the Federal Election Commission yesterday, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington alleged that the shopping spree by Governor Palin, the Republican National Committee and RNC "operatives" was a violation of the Federal Election Campaign Act.
"It is ridiculous that the RNC would spend $US150,000 to outfit a vice-presidential nominee and her family at any time," said the group's executive director, Melanie Sloan, on its website.
"But it is more outrageous given the dire financial straits of so many Americans and the state of our economy."
With the election less than a fortnight away, it emerged on Thursday that the Republicans splashed out for Mrs Palin — the moose-hunting Governor of Alaska and self-described "hockey mum" — after presidential candidate John McCain picked her as his running mate.
The Politico website said chic designer outfits from top-end retailers such as Neiman Marcus and Saks Fifth Avenue, plus hair care and make-up, cropped up as "campaign accessories" in a monthly RNC financial disclosure statement.
Senator McCain's campaign said the clothes would go to charity after the November 4 election.
The Republican presidential hopeful was not happy at being asked about the matter.
"She needed clothes at the time. They'll be donated at the end of this campaign. They'll be donated to charity," he told reporters on his campaign bus between Florida rallies.
Asked for details on how they would be donated, Senator McCain said: "It works by her getting some clothes when she was made the nominee of the party and it will be donated back to charity."
Asked if he was surprised at the amount spent, Senator McCain said: "It works that the clothes will be donated to charity. Nothing surprises me."
Meanwhile, asked who had paid for the suit he was wearing, Democratic vice-presidential candidate Joe Biden told local television in Virginia yesterday: "I pay for my suits. I pay for all of my own clothing."

?

In the past you lefties would hate this type of reporting. Lets get onto serious issues I would hear you say.

And how much has Michelle Obama spent on clothes etc..?
That is irrelevant to this discussion, given that the Democrats aren`t paying to outfit Michelle Obama.

Who do you think are th highest paid Consultants in the Mac Campaign?

Economics expert?

Campaign Strategy Chief?

Of course not.

They paid a Hairdresser $10,000.00 Dollars for a couple of haircuts for the Moose who can see Russia from her veranda in the first 2 weeks of October:D

But that ain't the winner they paid a stylist to pick the 150K of clothes $22,000.00 Dollars for a couple of days work in the first half of October:eek:

Talk about going rogue!!! :D :D :D

The news of Sarah Palin's colossal, RNC-funded shopping haul has placed the Alaskan governor back squarely in her role as being the main source of drag on the McCain ticket, as critics lampoon the candidate's overtures to America's Plumbing Joes while decked out in $150,000 worth of new high-end gear. According to MSNBC's Chuck Todd, things are said to be "tense" between McCain and his running mate, and, if you take a look at this picture, from Jezebel, I think it's pretty easy to see why!
original.jpg

OH NOES! Why on earth is Sarah Palin wearing a Democratic Party keffiyeh, festooned with donkeys and the word "Vote?" Why won't McCain question her on her ties to radical leftist accessories?
So, yeah. I'd say that this is money well spent by the RNC! In my imaginings, this scarf cost Palin $15,000, and all proceeds went directly to ACORN.
UPDATE:
A blogger suggests that this scarf was given to Palin by "someone in the crowd at a Reno rally." A photo essay cited as evidence fails to provide conclusive proof of anything other than the fact that Palin was previously seen at this rally, sans accessories.
MORE UPDATE:

Here's a picture of Palin being given the Democratic Party Scarf by someone at the rally, so the RNC is off the hook for this one! Essentially, Sarah Palin will wear anything!

Ah, the 'some people' standard. You realise, of course, that 'some people' will say practically anything in service of their particular partisan cause -- and that therefore what they're saying is of little practical value, because it's determined by their ideology and not the facts. You just have to look at Fox or NRO to see that.

Anyway, back to your statement: what sensible, serious-minded politician or pundit would call Biden a 'crazy guy'? He's prone to putting his foot in his mouth, sure, but crazy? Really? How much weight do you put in that?

Honestly im more in the case where out of the two, McCain and Obama I'd prefer McCain to win but im not thrilled with either candidate. I think Romney and Hillary Clinton would be better choices, but voters have got the two they want.

Are you saying you'd prefer McCain to Obama, but you'd prefer Hillary to either? If so, on what basis?

Palin spent more on clothes than previously reported, McCain aides furious at her ‘outrageous profligacy.’»

palin-boots.jpg
In a new 50,000 word article on the presidential campaigns that will come out tomorrow, Newsweek reports that Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) spent far more on clothing than the $150,000 reported last month. According to a preview by Politico’s Mike Allen, “McCain’s top advisers privately fumed at what they regarded as her outrageous profligacy“:
One senior aide said that Nicolle Wallace had told Palin to buy three suits for the convention and hire a stylist. But instead, the vice presidential nominee began buying for herself and her family — clothes and accessories from top stores such as Saks Fifth Avenue and Neiman Marcus. According to two knowledgeable sources, a vast majority of the clothes were bought by a wealthy donor, who was shocked when he got the bill. Palin also used low-level staffers to buy some of the clothes on their credit cards. The McCain campaign found out last week when the aides sought reimbursement. One aide estimated that she spent ‘tens of thousands’ more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband.
Newsweek reports that McCain “rarely spoke to Palin during the campaign, and aides kept him in the dark about the details of her spending on clothes because they were sure he would be offended.”

For a smart woman she sure is dumb.

Now that the 2008 election is over, reporters are spilling all the juciest, and previously off the record, gossip from the campaign trail. Much of it is about the infighting between Palin and McCain's staff, as Newsweek's treasure trove of post-election gossip reveals.

However, perhaps one of the most astounding and previously unknown tidbits about Sarah Palin has to do with her already dubious grasp of geography. According to Fox News Chief Political Correspondent Carl Cameron, there was great concern within the McCain campaign that Palin lacked "a degree of knowledgeability necessary to be a running mate, a vice president, a heartbeat away from the presidency," in part because she didn't know which countries were in NAFTA, and she "didn't understand that Africa was a continent, rather than a series, a country just in itself."

Palin was apparently a nightmare for her campaign staff to deal with. She refused preparation help for her interview with Katie Couric and then blamed her staff, specifically Nicole Wallace, when the interview was panned as a disaster. After the Couric interview, Fox News reported, Palin turned nasty with her staff and began to accuse them of mishandling her. Palin would view press clippings of herself in the morning and throw "tantrums" over the negative coverage. There were times when she would be so nasty and angry that her staff was reduced to tears.

Party’s over for Palin: GOP goes to collect leftovers from her shopping spree.»

palingrey.jpg
After controversy erupted over Gov. Sarah Palin’s (R-AK) largely unauthorized spending spree, Palin announced that she would no longer be wearing the expensive clothing: “Those clothes, they are not my property. … I’m not taking them with me.” However, it seems that a few items did make it back to Alaska with her, and the GOP is coming to reclaim them:
Sarah Palin left the national stage Wednesday, but the controversy over her role on the ticket flared as aides to John McCain disclosed new details about her expensive wardrobe purchases and revealed that a Republican Party lawyer would be dispatched to Alaska to inventory and retrieve the clothes still in her possession.
A new story in Newsweek reveals that Palin “spent ‘tens of thousands’ more than the reported $150,000, and that $20,000 to $40,000 went to buy clothes for her husband.”
