AFL Toast RND 6: Win Against The Crows

I haven’t been on here a lot to know whether Heppell and McGrath have been given their due credit for a great start to the year, but saying so here.

Durham was close to my favourite player last year, now it’s not even close. Caldwell excellent too as is skip.

The 4 pickups were good. Jones still growing but his work rate is essential.

Great win.

Great win, more than deserved. Led at every change and had eight more scoring shots on the road.

Kept Adelaide in it with poor kicking and if they didn’t spend so much of the last quarter shitting themselves under the footy, flopping around, ducking their heads and playing for frees then they might have snatched the win.

Not fussed about an umpiring decision or two, they go both ways and both teams had more than enough chances. The better team won.
The epitome of; the one that got away if we did lose

more scoring shots, more I50's, more possessions, more tackles, more frees for

the only thing we literally lost is the amount of goals kicked

Pleasing to see the younger guys step up with se of our more experienced players having sour nights.

Laverde, Langford and Parish were all below their best for most of the night.
Bit Caldwell and Durham were wonderful in the midfield, Davey and Hobbs' physicality and pressure were needed, and Jones kept our forwardline structure together while Langford and Stringer had dirty periods (both had their moments).

Draper for Wright seems the obvious move next week. If Draper isnt rucking most of the game I would rather Wright pinch hitting in the ruck with Jones holding us together up forward.

Kinda disgusting but we'll take it.
I’ll take a disgusting win dominated by defensive effort over the last decade.

How good is to have 2 mids like Durham and Caldwell in the midfield. The intensity they bring totally changes the way this side plays. Hobbsy aswell. All 3 were brilliant tonight
I think Setterfield is a very important midfielder for us. We could do with some leg speed.

The great escape!

After tonight let’s never speak of this game again.
Don’t agree. This win needs to be brought up again and again that effort and defensive actions wins games even when you don’t kick straight. This is a very un-Essendon win in the last 20 years.
