I wonder whether it's something to do with adjusting to playing under lights with his marking. We train in daylight and VFL is all played during the day, can be hard to make the adjustment. Maybe he needs goggles!
Just could be a confidence thing mental part of the step up to afl just might not believe enough in himself

Just as happy walking away from that as I was after the Lions game, but for different reasons.

The Lions game we just kept on coming despite the gulf in quality between the 2 sides.

With this game we came out early and set the tone, by pushing the Suns around and getting in their faces early on. Then when the Suns had all the momentum in the early part of the 2nd quarter we held firm and didn't let momentum get away from us. The 3rd quarter saw us play some very good attacking footy, that put a gap between us and them that proved too much to overcome. While the last quarter wasn't the finish that most of us would have liked, I believe we'll get more out of that than we would have had we won by 8+ goals. That last quarter will be a great teaching tool for Yze to show the group that you can never take anything for granted in this game. Not only that but the group will also have learnt what they need to do to shut down things earlier rather than allowing the opposition to keep on pushing for the win. There were errors late in the quarter that weren't capitalized on by the Suns, due in part to their own inexperience in how to win games when they're coming from behind.

That being said there were some areas that I didn't like. I saw plenty giving it to Samson and with good reason to a degree when it came to the ruck contests especially to start the last quarter, but to be fair our captain wasn't much better overall against Witts so expecting any better from Samson is like pushing shit up hill it just doesn't work. As mentioned in the game day thread our forward half delivery was substandard outside that first lead and mark from Lynch at the start of the game. The rest of the game was us kicking the ball on the heads of our tall forwards and expecting them to somehow take contested pack marks every time and it just didn't work if anything it just played into the hands of Mac Andrew who was able to intercept or spoil pretty much everything that came in long and high. So getting stuck into Ryan for being poor up forward is unfair IMO as none of our talls were really given a fair chance.

As far as changes for next week are concerned, I'd go in unchanged except for the sub as I'd like to see Trainor playing a full game after effectively getting a 'rest' this week. Outside that the only changes would be for any unknown injuries from the game. You have to reward the 23 for their overall performance tonight and let them back it up against the Dees in what could be another winnable game.

WTF was he doing with Nank on the bench for 10 minutes at the start of the last?
Who knows even when he come on ryan was still rucking and playing. Would have been better to play him first ten minutes game safe rest him for 20 lol

Just want to say Hopper has played very well for us the past few weeks. I know his disposal is questionable but he worked his ass off and set up plenty of play out of the midfield.
His disposal's been alright, he just generally holds onto it for too long like a few of our players do

Was it just me or did we finally get a half decent umpired game for a change?
was pretty well umpired imo. not just because we won but there seemed to be less game defining line-ball calls. best games are when umps just pay the obvious ones and are consistent.

We were clearly resting Nank at the start of the last quarter with the plan to sub Ryan off afterwards and have Nank stay out there. Worked out in the end. It sure would be good if Nank could clone himself though.

Who do we drop for Mansell? I've liked all our small forwards recently. Green had a few shanked kicks which is unusual, but I thought he still pressured well.

So much crying, remember 2020 in the hub when everyone was sooking about our behaviour?

Giving me flash backs, love these salty tears from high up in their soap boxes. Didn't realise society today had so many perfect people walking around

mansell is a huge upgrade on green imo, might be unlucky for green but you cant drop seth or mrj on their efforts tonight.
