Rookie Draft

This is discuss some players whom you think should be picked up by Adelaide in the RD.

As others would say, probably the 2 most common in Sibo and Rockliff; but personally I would love to see Adelaide pick up Tom Allwright. Seen him play a couple of times and he I was pretty suprised he wasnt picked in the ND.

Thoughts on who we should pick up ?

De Boer is one on my radar too.

Jamie Sheehan - Small midfielder/backman

For mine this draft has so far not addressed our need for both a quality small and medium forward. There's Porps, or Jacky and Cook might be the goods but I would like to see us go for these types.

Chris Hall, Rockliffe, Aaron Purves, Ian Richardson, Charlie Sharples, Adam Varcoe and Ben Speight remain undrafted - the first five known for kicking goals.

I don't know that we need a project ruckman with McKernan there to pinch hit if injuries require it, and would go for two forwards if the quality is there plus a midfielder. Jay Shannon is still available along with those mids mentioned above.

I've never seen him play but based on some of Vic Crow's old comments perhaps Andrew Browne would be a good project if they do opt for a ruckman.

Yeah sorry you are no doubt right.

I am no longer young enough to waste the remainder of my life waiting for the AFL site to open up so referred to Wayne's World's list on the 2008 Draft Selections thread when checking who had and hadn't gone.

I realise now that it only goes to pick 75 and I have no idea who was picked after that.

I'm real happy with our picks but I was thinking along the same lines with regards to getting a few more crumbers for these talls blokes.

So I'm sure we will get a least one more crumbing/goalkicking small in the RD. Then all will sweet

Sibosado and De Boer aren't very good. Sibosado you'd take for upside, but De Boer is nothing special.

I'd like us to take a few exciting crumbers. Perfect place to take them, they're generally very hit or miss, but this is the rookie draft you and can find some real gems. Robin Nahas who plays for Port Melbourne would be a good pick up. He's only 20 but was in the VFL team that played the SANFL team this year and did alright. He's a genuine crumber, can play midfield but he'd be too small for that in the AFL. Very smart footballer. Sharples was talked up a bit but didn't get picked up. If he's available you'd think we'd have to take him with our first pick, he should be hot property.


I'd expect us to take some smokies though, people we've never heard of.

Are we able to take Joel Tippett? Now that nobody took him in the ND, does he automatically go on Brisbanes rookie list, and they lose their last rookie pick? Or do they have to pick him up again with one of their picks?

I would hope that we would actually pick the players with the most upside, regardless of where they come from or what position they play especially since we won't get much of a genuine run in the next few drafts.

If Rendell and co snare a couple of handly players through our rookie list we would have done some exceptional work. The more good AFL players you pick now, the less pressure we are under when the drafts are compromised by Gold Coast and West Sydney.

Go for the kids with most upside and hope one or two of them pan out.
