Farrell tears a team a new arseh*le and before the whistle goes ken isolates him (a speedy smart forward with a great kick) 1 on 1 in the goal square. Totally ignoring that 1 on 1 standing under a high ball is the opposite of what Farrell is good at.

Then proceeds to give him assignments as a lock down forward defender.

Then drops him.

We have done the same retaining Douglas who is completely cooked & recalling Mackay... whilst leaving the likes of Jones in the sanfl.

Appears the coaches have a similar showdown selection policy & forgotten about being brave...

Ruck set up - Ryder, SPP, Drew and Atley
Forwards - Ladhams, Frampton, Marshall and Farrell
Defense including Garner, Lienert and Broadbent

That's 11 players that can come in and do the job at AFL level!

If I was happy with mediocrity I'd want Paddy Ryder back in the team this week, because he's given us nothing but mediocrity for the last year and a half. Lycett's last two games of footy were miles better than any game Ryder has played since 2017.

Farrell isn't someone I'd carry into a contested game.

Garner is the sort of player who is two steps forward, one step back.

Drew - lol. Had an opportunity to make his mark with Powell-Pepper out of the side and did nothing.

Ladhams - playing as a forward isn't his go. That's Hayes' spot.

I don’t know how we are going to go without Drew’s massive 10 possessions. He was 10x worse than what Wines was last game. He had a couple of good games at the start of the year, but has done nothing at all since.

He has potential, but he needs to go to the SANFL for the rest of the year. Put on some size in the off season. He is far too small at the moment. Gets pushed off the contest way too easy.

Yep. I reckon a bit like Westhoff, Ryder was a victim of his own versatility.

At various times in his career he’s been a solid tall backman, a more-than-handy tall forward, an All-Australian ruckman and a big midfielder in the Kepler ‘future of football’ Bradley at the 2003 U18 Championships-mould.

As of right now, he’s a 31yo 196cm ruckman whose athleticism & stamina is all but gone.

Lycett is a 26yo 203cm man-mountain whose time is now, with potential phenom Hayes waiting in the wings.

Moving on from Padd and going knackers-deep in Scott til the end of the year with the obvious tandem to come online in 2020/21 is an absolute no-brainer.

At least Two of Motlop, Bonner and S.Gray should’ve been gone as well.

By Christ you are not wrong!!! I would have gone for the trifecta and added Butters for good measure.

Garner is a real defender and would have set the tone back there far more than Bonner. Bonner is not a defender's arseh*le.

How Motlop continues to survive astounds me. In those conditions his skill might be a virtue.

The pace of Motlop and Bonner in Saturday's conditions won't really help us a great deal. Another reason to drop both.

S.Gray is a wet weather player and that is the only reason I can think of why he was picked. He has been on the nose for the last several games and the sooner we nab Fantasia the better so we never see him darken the forward lines again.

Butters has looked spent for the last month at least. Better to give somebody else the opportunity for at least one game.

I don't rate him, that's my opinion. I think he just runs straight into his opponent and his ruck work has zero influence on the match. He is only effective when he catches the footy and takes it directly from the ruck. Yes he had a great game against Geelong because he was clearly stronger than Stanley and Blicavs.

Ryder is a Natanui style tap ruckman, Lycett in his best form is a Mumford style ruckman. You tell me who you would rather have in your side

Lycetts first quarter against Grundy, and last quarter vs Freo were the two worst ruck performances I have seen by a PAFC player since Jarrad Redden vs Sydney in 2015, and Cameron Cloke in the choco days.

I still think we will be looking back at the 5 year Lycett deal the same way we did for the 5 year Lobbe deal and many would have had the same argument for Lobbe. Hayes and Ladhams are developing so quickly that Lycett will probably become our 3rd ruckman next year and our highest paid SANFL player for 4 years

Ryder was finished over 12 months ago. Had all of 2018 to lead the ruck and let us down several times.

As far as our SANFL team goes I hope Ladhams rucks most of the time. Ryder should be rucking for East Freo in 2020.
