FREMANTLE held a desperate West Coast at bay and maintained its dominant Derby record with an eight-point win, where as we played one high quality quarter.

Hopefully we can get Barnett and Schleicher back as both were a 'test' last week and also our new forward set up clicks.

Looking at the winners from last week, I don't think any game will be easy but it is good to be back at Vic Park.

:/

Forward Eliza James suffered a syndesmosis injury on her left ankle in Friday night’s loss to Melbourne and was unable to play out the game. James is expected to be unavailable for four to six weeks.

Both Ruby Schleicher and Lauren Butler have unclear timelines as they continue to overcome foot injuries. Schleicher was unable to get up for last week’s season opener and will be further updated after main training later in the week. Butler is experiencing ongoing soreness in her foot with the Club expecting to have a clearer idea of her availability later in the week.

Midfielder Joanna Lin is still about one to two weeks away from becoming available as she also manages a foot complaint.

Charlotte Taylor continues to manage a knee injury and is still five to eight weeks away from becoming available. The Club is hopeful she will return in the backend of the season.

Bloody hell, with a short season some of those players may not get back until it’s nearly over. So frustrating! Eliza James is a real concern.

Yeah, it really sucks for her. Hopefully 4 weeks, not 6. Short seasons don't help in injuries like this.
Hopefully at least one or both Ruby or Lauren can get up.

So is Butler. Her injury sounds long-term to me, especially if she is having ongoing soreness in her foot.
Also l thought Schleicher was a definite to return this week, but her injury sounds ongoing....🙄
The season may well and truly be over for our girls when any of our injured players return to the field.

Collingwood v Fremantle at Victoria Park, 1.05pm AEST
From AFLW site.

Without Kiara Bowers last week, the Dockers were still able to bring the pressure thanks to Gabby O'Sullivan, Megan Kauffman, and Ange Stannett. That pressure will be important again this week as the Pies, at their best, move the ball swiftly into space and can look dangerous in attack. Against Melbourne last week, Collingwood was able to transition the ball neatly into its forward line for the first half, before the Demons got going. And the Dockers do like playing at Victoria Park, famously ending Collingwood's eight-game winning streak at the venue when they met there back in season six.

Meanwhile, Aine Tighe looms as a dangerous player from a Collingwood perspective. Tall, agile, and smart, she may be a little too athletic for Stacey Livingstone to contain, so the immense job might just fall to the hands of fifth-gamer Selena Karlson, but it becomes a team effort to limit the supply to Tighe.

Tip: Fremantle will push, but the Pies will bounce back. Collingwood by two points.

Not confident with James out, also Schleicher and Butler still missing

I think outside of Bowers and Miller, our midfield probably edges them out in terms of balance. Hopefully we can take advantage of an underdone Bowers and get ahead.

Why do we persist with Frederick?

Where will she play, up forward or in the ruck? If she plays in the ruck against Strom from Freo, she will get killed around the ground and in the ruck, as Strom is super athletic.....
she's our only ruck, but with Barnett back, guess she'll also do some ruck work.

Good write up and interview on Tarni Brown and her dad.

He is very proud of her and it seems like they have a great relationship.
