Essendon's two at this stage. They've simply shown more and had more exposure to first grade footy.

Stratton isn't big enough to be a KPD, Schoenmakers needs to hit the gym and get a solid run in the side.

How could you rate Stratton above Pears. Pears is younger, more athletic and more experienced. Has beaten many power forwards and has also played a few great games off the half back flank. Is clearly ahead of Stratton as a footballer.

I don't know about that. Stratton was freakin outstanding for us this year

i don't rate shoenmakers and wouldn't be completely surprised if he is not on a starting 22 player for wherever he is in 4-5 years.

i know i'm in the minority when i say i rate hooker above pears, but i think over the next 10 years the hook will be a very good defender and will take the number 1 forward a lot more than pears..

as a pair, tbh i don't think it's very close because i have big doubts on shoe.

Pears is an absolute gun. I'd take him at the Demons ahead of any of our defenders bar Frawley, Grimes and perhaps, perhaps, perhaps Garland.

I see quite a bit in Hooker too. At the moment he's just not their but could be quite good. Stratton isn't as good and I don't rate Schoenmakers.

Lol. I don't even get to see Box Hill games, yet I know that's not true. Definitely still needs to add a bit of baulk, but I don't know what 15 yo your referring to unless they are on steroids.

I see quite a bit in Hooker too. At the moment he's just not their but could be quite good. Stratton isn't as good and I don't rate Schoenmakers.

I'm the exact opposite.

Not a fan of Hooker who runs like a headless chook on hot coals with the ball.

Ryder only became a good footballer after he moved into the ruck.

Stratton is a top kick and decision maker, but a third tall defender at best. I think Stratton was one of the best players in the category for intercepted kicks in 2010.

I believe Schoenmakers was rated for his kicking, so he's more likely to be a third tall like Maxwell and O'Brien. Only a fool would write off Schoenmakers who will come good in time.

Why are we comparing KPDs from two average (yes I know saints are essendons bitch) teams.

At least open it up with Frawley, Garland, Reid, N Brown etc. I'd rate these four youngens just as high as the other four.

Pears leaks too many goals and is overrated because he gets so much of the ball for a full back. However people need to understand that he's basically a half-back flanker who plays tall.

Yep. Not much between Scho & Hooker tho. Hooker's a fantastic athlete but does some dumb stuff. Could come good, could end up being one of those tall backs you just tell to give off if they get the footy. Can defend.

The thought of Wellman, workng with Pears & Hooker like he did with Morris and Lake; then Garland/Frawley, makes me happy.

Schoenmakers is young but I haven't seen anything that has impressed me - doesn't look strong in the contest, his disposal is weak and he doesn't like pressure. I'm sure he'll improve, but I doubt if he'll ever be a quality AFL footballer. And frankly, given Chris Pelchen's track record at Hawthorn, I don't value his assessment of him that highly either.
