Sri Lanka tour of Windies 2018 (3 Tests)

8 for 62 for Gabriel - and 13 for 121 for the game.

They are the third best Test figures by a West Indian ever; the only ones better are two fellas called Walsh and Holding, who got 13/55 (!) and 14/149 respectively.

WI need 296 to win though. That’s a tough ask.

Tend to agree with Law's pre-play comments. Just be generally positive and then assess at tea whether victory is a possibility.

Happy to get away with that one in the end but disappointed we didn't push on from the two moments we were definitely on top, 4-down in our first innings and SL 4-down in their second.
They definitely had the foot on the throat twice and let it slip off on both occasions.

Nonetheless, at 64/4 in the second innings they could have easily slid to defeat, and from that point on they scrapped out the draw quite well.

Even without the final interruption, I doubt Sri Lanka would have taken five wickets from here.

All fair points.
I'd like to think it's just a lack of experience in driving home strong positions, it's not like we've had a tremendous amount of practice I guess. Still a lot of positives. Good for Brathwaite to get some runs under the belt, Hope doesn't look far away from a score.

I like that we are playing 4 specialist bowlers and one and a half all-rounders.

A win or draw in this match would give the West Indies their first test series win in a series of 3 or more matches in 9 years, and their second since 2002. Wow. That is extraordinarily bad.

Golden opportunity if we can get it, with Bangladesh to tour shortly.

Dowrich has effectively ended Ramdin's career this series.

Ramdin was the only real stand out from last domestic season aside from smith, and with dowrich's keeping under the mircroscope any failure would have seen him replaced I reckon.

Hasn't dropped a chance that I know of, has taken 3-4 that he had every right to drop, and has rescued three innings with the bat.

Holder I'm convinced can become a genuine top 6 batsman.

With 4 seamers on this pitch, under lights with a pink ball, if they can get 250 they'll be in the box seat.

Can’t even get anyone to attend a day/night test

Not sure if you're across it or not, but this is a team who has not won a 3 test series in 9 years. When you're conditioned to dominance like any West Indies fan over 35 is, what do you expect? At the very least, there was a far better crowd than there was at the first two matches, and if they continue to improve, so will the crowds.

Absolutely plumb, can't believe that was given not out by the umpire

This. Only possible defence was that he thought it was swinging too far but it hit him on off stump.

Can't speak highly enough of West Indies' seemingly new found ability to work their way back when it looks like they're falling behind. Done it a lot this series and they're doing it again now
