Ted Richards said that he was there but left early, he made a quip about how one of his jokes would have fit better with Reg. Presumably he was either in pain or too tired from painkillers.
Yes. I know. The SMH reported he was given a gift by Andrew Pridham, and that Bobby Skilton was there. Neither of which are correct. Lazy reporting.

It's fine. I generally find your posts interesting/insightful. My post assumed that the reader had read the SMH article. Goes to show their coverage is so bad people don't read it much! It always shocks me when I go to Sydney that the AFL is >10 pages in from the back page.
The AFL can't help but constantly touch things they should just leave alone. They are like a teenager with a pimple.

In that case why is it a story? This administration doesn't even give things time to settle (back to the pimple analogy again) before they back-track or pick at it again. It'd be interesting to see a story on how many rule changes we've had in the past five years -- on and off the field -- compared with the 150-odd years before.
Couldnt bend over to tie his laces or pick up his kids very sad.

Been there as a 21 year old. Quality of life after the operation is the goal, he's in the best of hands so hoping it's all good for him but your never quite right with back ops, ever.

Article indicates it’s too late for that:
“Any change would be some way from being introduced, however, with the AFL mindful that with clubs able to trade future draft picks for next year, it couldn't change the rules for 2020. Any change would be implemented for 2021. “
