Cameron Wood.
This is a thread by request from Dave/DTM/TradeDraft.
But I thought it had some merit.
Basically, the question Dave wanted to ask was;
Does Cameron Wood take footy seriously?
Dave was asking this question more based off reports that Wood was seen in a very "drunk" state during the mid season break, at the same venue as Swan was assaulted at the other day. (Eve nightclub).
My thoughts;
Like most AFL players, what happens off the field isn't always the greatest indicator of what happens on the field.
Wood has some talent, of that there is no doubt, but whether he has the ultimate motivation and drive to convert that talent into a successful AFL career as a ruckman, only he and those "inside" the club can really answer.
I see Wood as a player who, come September, will be looking on at other players like Jolly and Leeroy, and thinking to himself, "that should/could be me".
I firmly believe the club has to have a very frank and honest discussion with Wood after the season, about whether or not his sole focus is Football, and if he wants to remain at Collingwood.
At the moment, Wood is my "prime candidate" to be the uncontracted player to go the Gold Coast.
I hope he doesn't leave, but at the moment he is doing a good impersonation of Guy Richards or Steven Mckee.
Thoughts?
