Forward line height.

i don't think that chambers is getting a game because we have an abundance of speedy midfielders at the moment. if fletcher doesn't pull up OK then we might see him get a game.

Folks, lets not go overboard after one loss. NOW, with the side starting to peak, is the time to keep our squad together, not to turn it over. The AFL requires us to make 4 changes to our list so I would be going for minimal change. I would keep Hansen unless he asked to be traded. It's the players that have been around a while but can't get a game: Chambers, Collica etc are the ones that have to worry about their retention on the list. Munro is a 4th year player as well, although I like him and it was always going to take time for him to bulk up. Sierakowski, Wilson, McIntosh and Matera are all gone at the end of the year. Banners and Jacko will take the position of the later two on the Veterans list. From there we will have to delist or trade one player for every rookie list player we elevate...

As for ins and outs for this week

Out: Fletcher (inj), Gardiner (inj), Carroll (con), Jones (con), Adkins
In: McIntosh, Chick, one of Staker/Seaby/Lynch, and 2 of Munro/Read/Chambers/Selwood/Morrison

I can assure you that Munro will not be delisted. He is very highly thought of and would be playing in the side now if not for injury.
There will likeley be some trades though because salary cap is an issue.

My choices v Hawks (if all fit)

In: Chick, Milli, Collica, Staker, Lynch, Chambers

Out: Gardiner, Jones, Carroll, Adkyns,

2 to be left out depending on conditions. If wet consider Humm.

no one knows - he might end up adding nothing to the team, but we'd rather know 100% for sure that rather than just assuming he doesn't and deslit him.

The dockers learnt the hard way - mcleod springs to mind there, and i'd rather us not go down that path.

If we delisted anyone without giving them again except in extreme circumstance, than i'd be VERY ****ed off.

Hansen

I was at the East Perth v Swans game on Saturday and Swans had Hansen, Johnson, Munro and Morrison playing.
Chad only played a half. Munro had a few touches - at one stage was supposed to be picking up East Perth's best midfielder in Brent Cowell and was very loose. Johnson played CHF, CHB and ruck and did not shine in any position. His opponent when he was at CHF (Caine Hayes) is a head shorter and much lighter and regularly ran off Johnson. Hansen played on Judd Lalich and didn't get a touch in the first half. Was very disappointing - Judd completely thrashed him.
East Perth had Sellwood, Willo and rookie Zac Beeck. Sellwood had heaps of the ball, is improving every week and made some excellent passes to Willo on a lead. On the ABC, the commentators said how good it was for his development to be playing in a first class team like the Royals.(It must be better for a young player to play in a good team than at one which struggles e.g. Peel!!) Willo kicked 6.2 - all in the second half. Did not get much of the ball in the first half. Zac is now playing number 1 ruck for the Royals with Ryan coming on ten minutes into each quarter. I hope he is elevated next season.

Out: Gardiner, Jones, Fletcher, Adkins, McDougall
In: McIntosh, Chick, Seaby, Staker, Read

End of Season

Retire:
McIntosh
P Matera
Sierakowski

Delist:
Collica
Munro
Wilson

Trade:
Cox

Promote:
Nicoski
Beeck/Ruderforth

Veterans List:
Jakovich
Banfield

Players over 190cm or 6ft 3in
Embley 190cm
Hunter 190cm
Glass 191 cm
Carroll 192cm
Jakovich 193cm
Lynch 193cm
Staker 194cm

Players over 196m or 6ft 5in
Gaspar 196cm
McDougall 196cm
Hansen 196cm
Johnson 197cm
Seaby 198cm
Gardiner 199cm
Cox 204cm

Add to that Sierakowski, McIntosh and Wilson and we are pretty well endowed in the height department.

I think that Lynch is being groomed for Jako's position.
McDougall/Gaspar/Staker are Key Position Players and Seaby/Johnson are second Ruck

Chambers hasn't played well in the WAFL this year (in a very good side:D ) but travelled to Adelaide as emergency and I believe will play next week.

Collica will surely come in for at least the next two games.

McIntosh will probably come in, presumably to play on whoever Hawks play up forward (Rawlings?).

A lot of it will be down to fitness. Jones, Fletcher, Carroll & Chick would play if fit - and who knows which of them will be?

I am not convinced that the Eagles will risk Seaby's slight frame at AFL this year - but watch out next year.

So, my guess is:

Out: Gardiner, Jones, Carroll, Fletcher, Adkins
In: McIntosh, Chick, Collica, Read, Chambers

In:
Staker, Chick, Read, Seaby, McIntosh
Out:
Gardiner, McDougall, Adkins, Carroll, Wooden

Note: if Fletcher or Jones are out injured, expect Wooden to keep his spot.

McDougalll's been dissapointing, i expected him to have a far more dominanting prescence up forward but he seems physically weak, has done nothing in the three years he's been at the club...not good enough for a top 5 draft pick.
We should look at trading him at season's end as we have an abundance of key position forwards, or moving him to defence.

this weeks changes
out gardy,carrol, adkins, jones
in. seaby, mcintosh, chick, staker.
if fletcher is still in doubt i would think along the lines of read/ sellwood

Seems that if we have one bad game it's time to drop/delist/exterminate just about everyone

Doogs has had his opportunity and hasn't stood up and said "This position is mine". Staker has been close to a call up for the last 4 weeks and with his WAFL performance of 12 kicks 9 Hanballs 6 Marks and 6 goals deserves a chance at showing his hand.

Doogs has been moved all over the ground .. of course he cannot cement himself in a position, ruck, CHF, down back ...

lets set the record straight, how many players walk in at CHF and look really good???? He needs time in the seniors... I'm going to bet that Gaspar and Doogs will be our "bookends"

now delistings, can I throw Trent Carroll's name into the ring ... our biggest weakness is KPP down back ... Milli will go, but Carroll is not good enough, people say he played well against Port, but when else this season? I'm sure I could play a good half if given all the opportunities he has.

He makes elementary errors and generally beats his opponents, dare I remind you of his effort vs Rocca in the wet? It needs to be addressed. If we were not in contention for finals, I'm sure Lynch and co.. would have been played down back.

rant over

Now that fletcher will not play.......

IN- Seaby, Staker, chick, mcintosh, selwood/chambers

OUT gardiner, fletcher, carroll, jones, adkins

Big blow losing Fletcher....

If Fletch, Carroll and Jones all dont come up from injury then it's:

Out - Fletcher, Carroll, Jones, Gardiner, Adkins.
In - Chick, Chambers, Seaby, Collica, and someone big....

That's flawed logic, and based on that we should give everyone who plays WAFL a game of AFL just in case they can make it. If he's shown enough at WAFL level to be close to getting a game, then fine - keep him on the list. If not, don't just hold on to someone in case they turn out to be something later.
