Public opinion was way in favour of the league at the time and completely against the swans. I still didn't like it and thought we succumbed to pressure put on by the AFL.

We are respected by many players & the attraction for high profile plarers is that we offer them a high chance of success along with relative anonymity.
As Horse always says, we just have to find a way.
With Buddy, after landing Tippett, we found a way.

Notice the 2 you mentioned we didn't have to trade for Our club can attract players, but we in recent history, have not been in the game of trading our future away.

If Jones requested a trade, we have some currency on the trade table especially if Jones was happy to go to Richmond. But personally, I would keep Jones and our first rounder and pass on Dusty.

It's all hypothetical though...apparently, when it suits! Someone is going over the top tonight. It's not as if we're all high flying execs from the AFL, enjoying the fruits of our labour!

With $2m rise in the cap, Sydney obviously have someone in mind since they still have not signed Reid and Jones. If they were our only priority and we didn't have a significant target in mind those two would be done and dusted by now. Clubs were advised to bank on an extra 10% or $1m in cap raise not 20%. This means all the planning would have been done to set current contracts up to allow us to resign those two within an $11m cap. That leaves $1m free.

My tip is we are having a serious crack at Dusty. $1.5m for 6 years. This leaves us with $500k to sign a Reid or Jones. Whoever wants it really. The other will leave.
