Six decades of domination
Gaff has not been the same since he was last year. Even Eagles supporters wouldn't select him this year. He is still getting the pill but isn't using it as well as the past where he would cut teams up.

I tried to make an effective team rather than just listing the highest SC scorers like the rest of the dum dums in this thread. Think it would beat most AA teams.
B: M. Williams Tarrant Grimes
HB: Laird Hurley Docherty
C: Gaff Dangerfield Sloane
HF: Higgins Franklin Greene
F: Turner B. Brown Betts
Foll: Jacobs Cunnington Jo. Kelly
Int: Pendlebury Bontempelli D. Martin Selwood
Turners been good but he's not in the AA conversation.

North perform well with an even contribution across the board so it would make sense that some of the best specialist players in the league would be at Arden Street.
"We have no individual star players so it would make sense that some of the best individual star players would be at Arden Street". :drunk:

Or Dustin '59.8% Disposal Efficiency, 6 Turnovers Per Game' Martin.
Realistically the only positions which should be picked solely based on raw stats are Full Forward and Centre Half Forward (Marks and Goals), and one of the small forwards (Goals).

The problem is most positions are picked based on raw stats. Very rarely do the selectors look even marginally deeply at efficiency and turnovers and clangers.

Come on mate, surely having a laugh.

Tarrant yes, Marley Williams is better than anyone gave him credit for and should be in the conversation, Higgins maybe in the 40 man squad but it ends there for North.

It's funny, I would have said that Tarrant and Brown squad but that's it from a North perspective

Brown is going well, but probably just outside the squad at this point for mine. Tarrant should be in & Williams is making a stronger claim every week, having a great season.

I'm surprised how shallow the ruck division is this year. Be interesting to see how it continues to evolve!

1) Used to have 2 ruckmen
2) Used to have huge importance put on taps
3) Then we got spoiled by Dean Cox who could do it all (except beat Sandilands for the tap)
4) Then we didn't want a "resting ruck", but rather a "forward who can pinch hit"
5) Now we focus hugely on contribution in marks and round the ground, mobility
6) Teams are experimenting with guys like lin jong going up lol

Fast forward a few years: Is a ruck even needed?

Not really that surprising, I think a lot more rucks have been injured this year as opposed to previous years

Huh? Even contributions are less reason to have someone in. If you're team has no standouts and is sitting 13th you should have 0 in.
AA is about the standouts.
