Kruezer smashed him
In the actual ruck? No. He did well and truly beat him around the ground though in their last meeting which is rare, so kudos to Kruezer for that one.

Grundy rarely gets truly beaten in the ruck, so I'm not sure why you're talking about him that way. He basically broke even with Ryder on Saturday in the middle and killed him around the ground.
Huh? Ryder was one of Port's best whilst Grundy had an average game. Strange comment

Put your glasses on. Grundy had nearly double the amount of disposals that Ryder did in addition to 8 marks (5 contested) and more tackles. Even the commentators after the game were saying that Grundy had the better of him for the whole game outside the first quarter in the middle of their gushing over his milestone game. And Ryder wasn't named in Ports bests either, so I'm not sure how you came to that conclusion.

God you have your Collingwood coloured glasses on, Ryder clearly was the better of the two

By not being colour blind.

Collingwood had the top 7 players in AFL ranking fantasy points despite a 5 goal loss. Collingwood play an extremely possession bases game, ton of players put up empty stats and Grundy is one of them.

Heck I'm reading the Collingwood board MVP votes thread and several are asking why Grundy is getting fan votes noting that Ryder shaded him.

Couldn't care less about fantasy points, I don't make judgements base on them. I thought Grundy was fantastic around the ground on the weekend, 5 contested marks is huge and exactly what you want from a ruckman, and certainly not 'empty stats'.

I get that the only time you've watched a St Kilda game is when poor little captain cuck got teased by big bad jake so I'll let you off lightly here.

Jake is a very, very good player and should make the 40 man squad quite easily.
Stupid comment.

The only players who make the 40 man squad "quite easily" are the players that make the 22. All others limp into the 40 man squad.

Don't think he'll make either.

What he said to Murph is nothing compare the his snorting, injecting, cheating ways.

Oh and the irony of St Kilda taking the moral high ground on what Sam Newman said.

Dude, don't be weird.

I also don't get the point of naming a KPD in the 40 who isn't going to be put in the 22 anyway, better to give it to a midfielder who is having a better year.

B: Laird Rance Howe
HB: Docherty Hurley Yeo
M: Kelly Martin Merrett
HF: Greene Cameron Gray
F: Betts JKK Franklin
Foll: Kruezer Dangerfield J. Selwood
Int: T. Mitchell Sloane JPK Oliver
Unlucky: Daniher (JJK misses again and he is in), Roberton (isn't consistent enough compared to Howe, who he is competing with for a spot), Ryder (has been the best tap ruckman this year, but Kruezer has been better around the ground), Ablett (Injuries are holding him back this year)

I thought I would have a crack at naming my team

B Laird Rance Howe
HB Yeo Hurley Docherty
C Kelly Dangerfield Merrett
HF Martin Franklin Greene
F Betts Cameron Daniher
Foll Grundy Slone Selwood
Int Mitchell Ablett Zorko Gibbs

This is a more general comment about defenders, but I find it interesting the way defenders are chosen. There seems to be 2 main type, rebounding defenders (JJ, Hunt, Yeo), or marking defenders (Howe, Laird, Rance).

A skill that appears to have been overlooked in importance, is being accountable to a man. A few (like Rance), defend a man and do their "AA skill" amazingly, and are usually the ones picked. It might not be as important now defence is largely a zone concept, but I feel like there are players out there who are amazingly consistent at the one skill nobody ever seems to care about.
But it can also lead to some massive over rating of defenders. For example, I remember Oxley taking about a bazillion marks against us one game. Problem was he isn't an accountable defender, so is now in the Magoos. But that kid was the next coming after that game.

Grundy got more hit outs?
Just some of the quotes from the Collingwood autopsy thread:

Grundy struggled today, as I reckon he did against Essendon. Does he have problems with a wet, heavy track? Didn't have his usually mobility.

Got an education from Kruezer who always seems to play well against us. Doubt it is anything to do with the wet.

Has been doing this for a few weeks. WTF is he thinking. Also got towelled in the ruck.

Grundy looks to have plateaued.
Or just plain overworked.

Mate Kruezer just beat him fair and square. It happens.

Grundy is young and has some improvement in his game still despite his good start to the season.

His directional tap work needs a lot of work to become more effective and harder to read from the opposition.

He needs a bit more strength which will come, Kreuzer out bodied him constantly today.

If I can recall correctly, I believe Casboult started in the ruck first and did quite a bit of ruckwork throughout. Kreuzer got 9 coaches votes that game.

This was definitely a game that Grundy got smashed

Billy Longer must be up for discussion. Averages 35 hit outs to disadvantage, .1 kicks and 0.0006 marks per game.

Not enough running bounces

Kruezer won the battle, but all Blues fans seem to preach is that he "smashed" Grundy when actually he really didn't, Grundy was nearly as good in the ruck.
