Steele has received a lot of votes in the wing position, but nobody has nominated him in the guts yet, so...

NOMINATION
MIDFIELD: Steele Sidebottom

Don't think he should play in the guts, doesn't have much burst pace, isn't a particularly strong contested ball winner or a clearance machine. He's strengths are his tank, skills and smarts on the outside IMO.

I don't mind him rotating on the ball occasionally but should spend most of his time on the wing and hhf.

A quick midfield votes update as we enter the final afternoon of midfield voting (which closes at midnight tonight)...

RUCK: Brodie Grundy (47 votes), Jarrod Witts (1 vote), Mason Cox (1 vote).
MIDFIELD: Scott Pendlebury (35 votes), Adam Treloar (31), Taylor Adams (28), Jack Crisp (10), Dane Swan (7), Levi Greenwood (6), Jordan De Goey (5), James Aish (2), Steele Sidebottom (1).
WINGS: Steele Sidebottom (27 votes), Jack Crisp (17), Travis Varcoe (11), James Aish (7), Adam Treloar (3), Adams, Broomhead and Oxley all on one vote.

So unsurprisingly, Brodie's got it stitched up in the ruck position. Our three preferred mids look like being Pendles, Treloar and Adams. And the wings are currently being held by Sidey and Crisp. That's a pretty damn strong starting lineup, especially considering the talent missing: Greenwood, Aish, Varcoe, Swan, De Goey and Broomhead are languishing in lower positions at this stage.

No love at all for McCaff or Blair, highlighting the move from the old guard to the new.

People seem a bit split as to where to place Jack Crisp, currently polling more votes in a wing position (17 votes) instead of a central midfield position (10 votes). He's certainly got the athleticism to play there, perhaps this year he'll be freed up from his tagging role to hunt his own ball up and down the wing?

And I can only assume that Swan's modest numbers are due to the fact that people would prefer him in the front half this season. We'll soon find out!

Voting closes in a touch over eleven hours - there's still time to get your favourite into their rightful position, vote now!

There does not seem to be much love for DeGoey. Maybe another season is required before he makes his mark as a midfielder. In any case, with names like Swan, Varcoe and Aish scoring poorly, the interchange bench and some of the peripheral forward selections might be interesting.

Seems like we've just got an embarassment of riches rather than people not rating players. There's no room!

De Goey will make the bench, don't worry.

The results for the midfield are in! Final results are...

RUCK: Brodie Grundy (48 votes), Jarrod Witts (1 vote), Mason Cox (1 vote).
MIDFIELD: Scott Pendlebury (35 votes), Adam Treloar (32), Taylor Adams (28), Jack Crisp (10), Dane Swan (7), Levi Greenwood (6), Jordan De Goey (5), James Aish (2), Steele Sidebottom (1).
WINGS: Steele Sidebottom (30 votes), Jack Crisp (18), Travis Varcoe (11), James Aish (8), Adam Treloar (3), Taylor Adams (1), Tim Broomhead (1), Adam Oxley (1).

Which means your starting midfield and ruck lines are:

C: Steele Sidebottom --- Scott Pendlebury --- Jack Crisp
R: Brodie Grundy --- Adam Treloar --- Taylor Adams

What a fantastic starting midfield, highlighted most perhaps by the names which are missing - Swan, Greenwood, Varcoe, De Goey, Aish and Broomhead also rotating through there gives us crazy depth in midfield positions.

Special mention should go to Travis Varcoe, who has finished 3rd in voting for the half back flanks and the wings, as well as polling a few votes for a back pocket, too. He's actually polled more than thirty votes across three different positions so far. Here's hoping he can find a spot in the team before we run out of places!

A look at the TEAM SO FAR, before we move on:

B: Marley Williams (55 votes) --- Nathan Brown (58 votes) --- Tom Langdon (25 votes)
HB: Matthew Scharenberg (42 votes) --- Ben Reid (42 votes) --- Brayden Maynard (12 votes)
C: Steele Sidebottom (30 votes) --- Scott Pendlebury (35 votes) --- Jack Crisp (18 votes)
HF: TBD
F: TBD
R: Brodie Grundy (48 votes) --- Adam Treloar (32 votes) --- Taylor Adams (28 votes).
Int: TBD

We move now to the HALF FORWARD LINE, meaning that we're accepting nominations and votes for the positions:

TWO HALF FORWARD FLANKS
ONE CENTRE HALF FORWARD

These will be seriously interesting positions - does Jeremy Howe walk straight into a spot? Is there a role for Broomhead or De Goey on a flank? Is Jamie Elliott a pocket or a flanker? Is Travis Cloke a Centre Half Forward, or do we prefer him at full forward?

I'll kick off the nominations below, but as always - please feel free to nominate your own, or simply like an existing post to cast a vote.

We'll close voting on the half forward line at MIDNIGHT, SUNDAY 8th NOVEMBER.

Happy voting!

Wowsers we've got a lot of options for the flanks this season... Howe, Elliott, Broomhead, De Goey, Varcoe, Swan, Fasolo, Aish, even Goldsack, Blair or Macaffer could rotate through there.

NOMINATION
HALF FORWARD FLANK: Travis Varcoe
