I find it odd but very good that you're getting your kid to support another club, if I had a kid the little bastard wouldn't have a choice and he'd be a Demons supporter or be chucked in a dumpster and then chuck the mother in there as well for not giving me a Demons supporting child.

I suspect Zabs' location might have something to do with it... Megods, there must be a veritable explosion of red and blue jumpers adorned with 48 in the red centre! :thumbsu::thumbsu::thumbsu:

Considering Liam is my nephew my son will grow up wondering why I dressed him Carlton gear & not Melbourne.

And then he'll be wondering why you're dressed up in Carlton gear? Time for a change me thinks.

:p

Nah mate too old to change now, although I enjoy watching the Dees play more than I enjoy watching the blues. I wanted Juka to kick a bag full against us a few weeks back. If Liam can turn 1 eyed pies fans into Melbourne fans then you never know, blood is thicker than water.

Well I'm a member with Fitzroy and the Demons... not QUITE the same thing, but still...

Everyone should get on board next year. We're coming....don't worry. F*ck em all....the demons will fight back and fight hard.

I like the idea of us being Australia's answer to Millwall... that has its own appeal :D

We know your coming from bottom last year to bottom this year I wouldn't get too excited!!
You have some good young players but I think you may be down the bottom quarter for another couple of years before they all find their feet. Will need a few things go your way before you make it in the eight. Need to establish a forward line and a decent ruck and you will get there eventually.

Well we've got the Jurrahcane and the Russky up forward now, so I don't reckon we've really got huge difficulties up there anymore.

And the Russky is amongst the best rucks in the AFL now! Won every ruck duel he's had this year, and we've won most ruck contests overall.

Plus we've got a lot of depth in our ruck stocks, with Meesen, Martin, Johnson and Spencer as additional options.

Expect us to have a real chance to make the 8 next year.

And the only reason we didn't end this season on 7-9 wins is because of injuries...

Like Hawthorn and their decent ruckman???

Exactly. The Russky and the Meese beat any Hawks ruck partnership easily as far as I can see...

No doubt we will improve but making the finals...

Whos going to kick our goals? Bate might get 2 a game same with Jurrah and Watts is still so young.

If we were realistically going to push for the finals next year we would need a developed Full Forward like a Roughead.

Can't see us making the finals till our forwards mature.

Can see the Jurrahcane doing MUCH better than 2 a game at any rate... and the Russky is showing signs of real quality up forward too, so we can always put him there when needed.

Don't forget that we'll have guys like Wonaeamirri coming back into the side as well, and Greeny's a very reliable shot on goal of course.

In any case, the Jurrahcane already averages over 2 a game, and that's starting from a very low fitness base. He will improve substantially with a solid pre-season under his belt.

I reckon we'll finish 13th.

Watts needs another three years before he becomes what we think he already is. He's got talent and skill but his physicallity is almost non excistant. Opposition teams will begin to work out how to stop Jurrah, especially if he becomes our main target (why we need to keep Miller/Newton to smash some packs open). In short, our forward line is still the worst in the AFL.

After Jamar, we don't have any real talent in the ruck. PJ has gone backwards so much it's embarrassing, Spencer is so raw he isn't a realistic option, Meese is unproven and still has question marks over his ground work and Martin is a work in progress.

I'm thinking we'll get to 9th... or 7th/8th with a bit of luck as far as injuries are concerned.

It's the midfield stupid!

Our rucks are as good as they need to be, and our forwards do well from limited opportunities. It's the limited opportunities that are the problem, not what the forwards do with them. Impossible to kick a winning score with just over 30 inside-50s, no matter how hot the forwards (or how many packs are smashed - biggest waste of effort possible!)

9th-12th for me, with things going our way this year we could have won 8 games

Based on that I think we will win 7-9 games next year which puts us in that bracket.

Looking at the the way we are building is very similar to the Hawks. The Hawks went from 5 wins in 05 to 9 wins 06 & 2 years after that a premiership. Next year will be year 2 in a 4-5 year plan not including Bailey's 1st year. We may even be a little ahead.
