The same Jeff Kennett that wanted Clarkson sacked after Round 1?

I really don't think he is the answer - he's all bluff and bluster and the resulting circus he inevitably brings is more likely to do more harm than good.

Not sure how Melbourne fans view Peter Jackson, but he seems to being doing a pretty effective cull at the moment without making it all about him in the way Kennet would.

He's a smart operator is Jackson. Will be good for them

umm how? he was a horrible coach at AFL level and won a VFL premiership because Port Melbourne (wealthiest VFL club) had the funds to buy/keep all the best VFL players in 2011. (ie Valenti, Sam Dwyer, Galea, Malcolm Lynch, Wade Skipper, Patrick Rose, Pinwill).

That is very interesting.
My son was told by Gary they were skint and unable to afford a player who was the fastest at pre- season but maybe Gary had other reasons bearing down from above......

Is it fair to say that rather than sacking Bailey, Melbourne would have been better off showing Schwab and Connolly the door at the time which was being rumoured?
That was a massive mistake, no doubt. I always thought Bailey should have had one more year. However it was not to be and here we go again

Craig had a better list at Adelaide and was hopeless, i thought he was also director of coaching at Melbourne if so was he chosen to secure priority picks.

Its just sad ... i feel for mark and really hope he bounces back for him and his families sake

Well, he's gone. Again, player power wins. Got put in to change the culture and the culture ended up getting him.

Must chase an experienced coach this time. Go with someone who will go in, win over the players, set his own agenda, sell the club and basically look to take the club from where they are to somewhere respectable. For mine, Mark Williams is that man.

Feel for Neeld, went in to the club with a mandate to change the culture of the club. Went in hard, lost the players and basically lost it from there

Anyone following Brent Moloney on instagram.

Note the "karma is a bitch" post.
I checked his twitter earlier today actually just out of curiosity. Nothing at the time. Didn't take long by the sound of it for a bite though.

He was known as one of the best methodical coaches, engineered a strong gameplan that got consecutive top two finishes. Failed to adapt after that and couldn't get his side over the line in prelim finals but is well respected for his methodical approach to the game.

Justified or not, that is an extremely immature and disappointing thing for Brent to post.

Random trivia 1 - Neil Craig will be the oldest caretaker coach in history.

Random trivia 2 - Two coaches without VFL/AFL playing experience:

2013 - Neil Craig (c), Brendan McCartney
2007 - Neil Craig, Mark Riley (c)
1989 - Col Kinnear, John Todd
1984 - John Cahill, Bob Hammond (c)
1919 - Ted Melling (c), John Worrall
1913 - Vic Brown, John Worrall
1911 - Dave Hickinbotham, John Worrall

Daniher left a pretty shit list behind Bailey had no hope I genuinely feel he was heading in the right direction

I think honestly the only thing Bailey did wrong was teach the wrong game plan, he was trying to teach the handball at all costs Geelong 2007/08 style, but he would have fixed that by now

No doubt he'll feel dreadful for a time. However, he'll pocket a nice amount of money and I'm sure will return in an assistants role in time. My tip would be the Blues as Malthouse rates him.

I think a lot of people rate him, and even this season there were moments that I could see what he was trying to do gameplan wise - but he made some horrible mistakes early on that really ruined any chance he had of getting the players to buy-in.
