Thinking this will be a pick in the 30+ range. Maybe closer to 40 after Academy stuff.

Not sure if matters much if we're using it for Welsh

Yes, the main benefit of this pick will most likely be that we won't have to waste time fiddling around next draft to bring an extra nothing pick in to match bids.

Pretty disappointing result for losing McAdam but hey, who knows, maybe the bottom will fall out at Melbourne!

So our F1 can be traded for a player, try Petty again, Hayward, anybody else who's a mid, and use Melbourne F2 and our F2 to match Welsh.

2 average 2nds - say 30 plus 31, could match pick 10 with the discount.

25 and 30 can almost match 8.

20 and 25 almost gets you to 5

We also have a third rounder right?

30 + 35 + 50 is worth 1424 points, which could match pick 6 after the F/S discount

IU wouldn't be too worried about the picks at this stage - we likely will have a player or 2 to trade next year (himmelberg) to net some extra picks and we may flip futures in to get ahead and we may well shift more picks this year that could introduce extra future picks...long time to go

Does the matching work trickle down from last pick to first? What I am asking can we preserve our first pick by using later picks for points.

No. Next available

What is our death ride target / measure of success?

Right now, Melb's F2 (ours, now) is #33. They finished 6th after finals in 2023. *

So that's the death ride target: 7th or lower in 2024. Seems like a big ask, but who knows which team(s), will, along with Port :) slide down the ladder in 2024.

It does seem to be a matter of points for matching a Welsh (Michalanney?) bid, rather than actual draft position.

* For those wondering about this, in a "normal" year the picks for finishing 6th would be 13 and 31. But the North Melb charity picks in 2024 have pushed the second round out 2 places.

I'm in. Again. But it is getting harder as all the draft manipulation post season messes with our Death Ride pick and that lessens my appetite to ride as hard as I used to.

This deathriding got a lot more interesting all of a sudden. Not a key player but more unrest at the Dee's

Seems only reasonable that the AFL immediately strip them of their first round selection and send it our way.

Also, naturally they'll need to move Oliver out of that dangerous environment. We will take the hit and find a place for him.

AFL to penalise Melbourne by stripping them of their 2024 2nd Round Pick.

Adelaide Football Club put out a statement within 3 minutes saying "We are very disappointed, but accept the AFL's decision to penalise Melbourne and accept we were unlucky to be in the position to have that pick, courtesy of a trade for Shane McAdam. We have exhausted every avenue in getting a better solution for the Adelaide Football Club. We will demand nothing less than a table next to the window at next years Grand Final luncheon. We are sick of being placed at the back near the toilets."

Reckon the farcical discount will be dropped from next year and the points scale adjusted to more reflect real world value, only in the points table are two mid 20's picks worth pick 10.

If Dees finish top 4, their F2 will be a pick around 40+

Hurricocaine Smith a nice start to the death ride, Oliver being a naughty boy as well
