Bizarre.
The Sixers have rewarded Ben with a game off due to his level of engagement at training. This follows his surprise return to the team. The relationship is slowly mending.
Unpopular opinion;
Simmons is being a sook, and yes he played like complete sh*t on offence for the last 3/4/5 games of the 76er's playoffs last year, BUT
I cannot remember a player being hung out to dry like Simmons was by his coach and Embiid and everyone else at the end of last season.
This whole narrative that the only problem is Simmons being a sook is wrong.
Doc could have pulled him when he was not taking shots and at the very least Doc had to support his own player even if he didn't want to. And then dealt with the problems behind closed doors. Instead they hung him out to dry and the 76er's organisation has not bothered to find a solution since. Simmons is entitled to be pissed off.
They don't want him. This is not 100% Simmons.
That happened the entire season until that final game. Then a couple of frustrated comments were made. Simmons being a sook has seemingly been a lifelong character trait, you can only expect it to be put up with for so long.Doc could have pulled him when he was not taking shots and at the very least Doc had to support his own player even if he didn't want to. There are elements of this that are absolutely correct, and following the playoffs, Simmons had the absolute position of power based on the disappointing comments of his team and vital members of that team.
Even after pulling out of the Olympics, Ben had the position of power.
Even after sitting out of training camp, Ben maintained a position of power.
His behavior at training since arriving now reeks of a petulant child who doesn't want to eat his dinner but only wants dessert. It's so very disappointing to see him throw it away, because in the public opinion, he is now well and truly on the nose.
His agent should have provided far better advice.
