Isnt the stat presented just averages? It's not misleading, it serves to give a purpose - that is an idea on average how his shooting %s were.

I agree, 43/37 id take that!

It's misleading because of sample size and other factors I mentioned above.

And, yes, 43/37 is good. To put it in perspective Harden has shot 44/37 since joining Houston.

Is Capela a top 5ish player in the league? No

Is he leading a team to the NBA Finals like Howard? Ummm of course not.

Is he having a good year and important for the Rockets? Yes.

Capela has his role on that Rockets team, but he's really not the defensive fulcrum that his athletic talent suggests he could be.

Houston is a far better defensive team when Nene is on the court. They were last season too, as evidenced by how much they struggled without him in the playoffs. If Capela is behind Nene, there's no way he can be compared with prime Dwight.

PER is very generous with big men, particularly those who shoot a high percentage (ie dunk a lot) and accumulate quantifiable stats.

Yeah, this is absolutely not Davis' best year yet his PER is massive. Shooting % is a massive part of PER
