PIEMAN RESULTS Round 16 v North

An ugly win with the side looking decidedly flat after a demanding week away in Perth. North not as bad as we remembered them from Good Friday either. That said, we still kicked a very respectable 16 goals. That would win about 98% of games.

Pieman Player of the Week

Late inclusion Wally left it even later to kick his first goal but then followed up with two more to take out this week's PPotW. Williams kicked his first for the year. And Dale hit the scoreboard again. He never kicks a single goal it seems - when he gets one, he always gets another.

The most noticeable thing about these 16 goals is that only two of them came from our fabled (now mythical) three-headed monster, both to Josh Bruce. Those three - plus Bont - are of course always the most dangerous but the fact that we have nine players with a handicap in the 20s shows what a good back-up cast of goalscorers we have. Weight of inside 50s will result in goals somewhere and if the KPFs can't kick them somebody else will.

Pieman Player of the Year

With Naughton going down and Bont going goalless it should have been an opportunity for Bruce to move away again. However Libba's 50 points have now moved him into second spot. Libba has become quite prolific and is such a reliable set shot. Time for a handicap trim!

Williams' slightly lucky long goal made him our 28th goalkicker for the year.

The KELVIN

The prospect of another huge score against North and the likelihood of a big bag for Bruce or Naughton meant that quite a few teams loaded up on the KPFs. As we saw, it didn't quite go to expectations and when Naughton went off concussed before half time it doomed a few of us to unexpectedly low scores. In consequence it was dish licker 's carryover team of mostly speculators (164) that took out the Kelvin. TempletonTheRat (154) was the only one to have Weightman as a multiple (2x) and Snarls Barkley had the audacity to select Williams twice ... for an instant 120 points once that goal went through. Doggies_13 was one of only two teams to snap up the late inclusion Mitch Wallis which helped him finish close up with 147 points.

A special mention to Charlie "Donuts" Bucket - he has had big scores alternating with donuts for the past 12 weeks straight (if you count the bye as a donut) so he was due for a big score this week. He duly obliged with 142, enough for fourth spot. Just a reminder that next week is your donut week CB! Don't disappoint us.

The PIEMAN

The other team that switched late to include Wally was our leader Wocka . If he'd stuck with McLean he would still be in the lead but only by 14 points. Instead he has opened up the first really clear break for the year. An inspired move! Vinegar Mess has been quietly creeping up the leaderboard and now sits in third. Floridog has also come back into calculations with a 100+ score this week.

I've been looking forward to this game since round 3 just so I could put Bruce x3 again and then I go and pick Naughton x3 and didn't realise until now. At least he didn't go and kick a bag this time.

Pieman Handicaps vs Sydney Rd 17

Sorry for the delay in posting these. With Naughton out the balance of top end handicaps was always going to be changed, especially once word leaked out about Marra's debut.

Anyway, here they are - the named 26. Four players to come out once the final 22 is named.
