Thoughts on Last Years Draft?

It was a Bloody Beauty I thought and Here they are:

Sidebottom: Played well in Both VFL and AFL showing why he has Great Skills and has a Natural Feel for the Game. Got to Love his Semi Final vs the Crows

Beams: Really showed that he was a Massive Steal at Pick 29. Great Hands(Elite), Head over the Ball and Good Foot Skills.

Blight: Really Liked him in the VFL showed heaps with his Dash,Foot Skills and His Massive Leap

Rounds: Was good but did not show as much as the Others but showed enough.

L Brown: Did his Job.

Your Thoughts?

Sidey & Beams look 200 game players.

I haven't seen much of Blight but from all reports, he shapes as the perfect modern day footballer. Interestingly he was one of 3 or 4 young players that St.Kilda wanted for Luke Ball. Obviously rate him highly.

Rounds didn't show great form from reports but plenty to work with.

Don't forget all bar Beams are underage players and will be only 19 next year.

L.Brown filled a role for us but I hope he doesn't get a game in 2010 due to N.Brown, B.Reid etc forcing their way in.

I think last year's draft is one of the main reason's why we went so hard during trade week.

We saw we had picked up a lot of potentially good young players in the last 3-4 drafts, and that we now needed some experience.

Sidebottom and Beams were absolute stunners, and I would place money on Blight making it as an AFL footballer.

Good draft, may get better.:thumbsu:

Think last year's draft will be a very good one for us.

Really impressed with Beams. Think Sidebottom will be at least good. Blight is an obvious talent too. Rounds looks vanilla to me, but will hopefully benefit from being in the system for a year.

I think we got three very good ones in Blight,Sidebottom and Beams and one who showed he has pace but needs to have a pre season and he'll improve in Rounds IMO. Gotta remember that Rounds and Blight were only 17 this year so the club knows they are still very young and still have alot of improvement in them :D

Yeah Blight and Rounds could of Easily Nominated for this Draft and not last year

Yep spot on people just need to lay off bagging rounds it was his first year and he was only 17. People be patient not every draftee is a star in their first year.

Did not Bag Rounds as people say he has a lot to work with

Sidebottom I had down with our 1st round pick.
In 2nd round I thought maybe Sam Wright but North Melbourne got him before our pick, Dayne Beams was a great pick, could not have predicted that!
Otherwise I had Dylan Joyce who didn't even get drafted. Still rate him and would be a nice pickup for any club even as a rookie pick.
Also had Leigh Brown and Ben Cousins.
In hindsight Ben Cousins would have been a fantastic pick! But otherwise Beams so far looks like a better option than Wright. Blight and Rounds will have to see in a year or 2 how they turn out.

I must say that I was pretty disppointed in Rounds this year. Yeah, he has some pace but he didn't seem to have any tricks and as PS says, he looked a little "vanilla".

I hope that due to the fact that he was bottom aged that he will take great benefit out of the year and with a full pre-season that he will improve a lot. I hope he shows the drastic improvement that Nathan Brown showed between his first and second years.

Spot On bit early to Judge rounds too. I guess I wanted to see more from Rounds like using his speed more
