Wingers are also the 7th and 8th defenders especially with how one way our midfield is. Spargo one on one in defence is a ******* disaster waiting to happen

As proven in the Freo game in Round 11. We were absolutely gubbed and he looked completely lost out there.

Omitting Spargo won’t make a difference. He is a very good kick by and large and the fact he isn’t doing much is due to our key forwards doing nothing. In fact we only have one KF, and he is hopeless at the moment. The knock on him is pressure, but who replaces him at the moment? Unless you’re going to play Harmes in a FP, Spargo is staying.

Chandler, Bedford, Laurie are options for his FP spot. Each have strengths/weaknesses to weigh up. Given we don't really play a precise kicking style the extra pressure Chandler or Bedford could offer at ground level might be more useful.
But agree that more broadly we should be playing in a way that uses Spargo's kicking, gives space to our forwards to work in

with his inability to pick the ball cleanly off the ground. There was a moment in the Blues game where he one touched it & I think he honestly looked like he surprised himself that he took a ball cleanly.

Nibbler was unreal in the back end of last year - but he hasn't been able to replicate it at all this year.

He's an excellent runner but is often too pre-ccupied with defensive running to actually get out the back offensively. In 2018 when he was more of a goal scoring threat and we moved the ball super aggresively he kicked 27 goals.

This year he's kicked 6 goals 13 behinds with quite a few set shot misses in there. Definitely down on confidence as that's when his ball handling gets super sloppy (like 2019-2020). Our ball movement doesn't help our smalls at all.

To be fair I think he’s one of our strongest players. Pound for pound. I’ve seen him hit some pretty serious tackles.

Agree, our runners like him and Langdon have had a lot more attention to close or slow down our play. Really forces us into the bomb long style as we're too risk averse/rooted to switch our style
