The jury is completely out on whether Gillies is good enough at AFL level. He probably is but it's not like we were going after an established player. For all I know, maybe Boumann has done just as well in the VFL as Gillies. Considering his season, I would guess that he has.

I'm also not convinced Gillies is a KPD. A third tall most likely...and I think we have enough of those.

Yeah, we should offer the Blues our first two picks and make sure we fail to lodge the paperwork by a minute. It'd be nice to watch them squirm and sweat only to miss out.

Their agenda is to screw any team wanting one of their players. Problem is, does anyone want to deal with them?

In the end both club are pro's and neither were going to be pushed around.

As you say both would have it in the back of them minds what will happen if he doesn't get games. 24 Months ago Laidler was the same , got an offer from Carlt and it didn't take but then 12 months later when out of contract , it was done.

Of course in 12 months time your may have found another player and your not as keen.

From our point of view , Ling and Scarlet were asked their opinion and they said keep him. Doesn't mean will automatically get games but it shows they do rate him.
