It said on the CFC website that training would be closed after warm-ups, and that training would start at 11:15. But when I ambled over to the paddock on the dot, the lads were already lying there, stretching and waving their legs about in the sunshine.
Burns and Pendles left straight after warm-ups, which was somewhat disheartening. Nathan Brown also left soon after, but presumably to go to the Rising Star Awards, at which he polled 3 votes, even one from Robert Walls.
Dale Thomas trained with the other lads and looked perfectly fit and mobile. They had to run between vertical sticks, then pick their way though rings lyings on the ground, and he had no trouble with any of that. He did all the usual running and leaping around, and if he missed a few shots on goal, so did everyone else. Perhaps it was the fresh breeze, but the conversion rate was not encouraging.
Wakes looked very fresh and lively. He certainly has the straightest legs in the team and seems very strong for someone so slim.
Rocca came out after warm-ups and did some stretching, then practised kicking and catching with a trainer type. He kicked with both feet, but seemed a bit, er, careful. Then he went off to practise his goal kicking, which was either a little rusty or also affected by wind, or by the backdraft from the trucks on the flyover above the paddock. After 30 minutes he started stretching again, then signed some autographs and took off on his bicycle - presumably what the physio ordered. BTW, he was looking very slim for a man who's spent some time on the couch recently.
Medhurst was going like a rocket the whole time. He has a great leap on him. When they broke into forwards, mids and backs, he went with the mids.
McCaffer,Thoolen and Stanley trained with the team, and when they broke into their groups, McCaffer trained with the forwards. He wasn't the worst. JA started with the forwards, but had a brief play with Harry and Wakes.
H. Shaw and Didak were there throughout. Shaw had awee bit of a limp, but only briefly, but Didak trained like a genuine finals prospect - all an illusion, I know. Didak surely has the least straight legs of the team, which may be why he's good at bananas.
All in all, they didn't kill themselves. Eddie was there too, practising his ball skills. But I trust it won't come to that.
Leon Davis seemed to be the hottest autograph get today, and Dale was obliged to hold someone's baby for a photo. To his credit, he did not drop it; but it may have had a dirty nappy, for he did hold it well away from his body.
Sorry, no photos. I didn't bring my camera as I thought it was a closed session. There was one supporter there, snapping away with a very long lens. Hopefully he posts here.

but it is effective. If he is getting it on the wing and Cloke is I 50 it is a much better result then Cloke getting it on the wing and having Dawes and Ja to kick it too with a massive adeliade flood.
