USA Mid Term elections in November

The pain of getting the speakers role confirmed will be nothing compared to the partisan mockery and shame that GOP will enact in its next 2 years as it attempts to repeal many of the fundamental programs that have been enshrined for decades

The American government system is an absolute joke
It's been corrupted beyond recognition. It lasted a long time on the faith that there wouldn't be so many undemocratic and morally bankrupt PoS who would through the gentlemen's agreements, ethics, morals and norms out the window.
There are always deals being made. There is always corruption based on money. The Federalist capture of the courts for example. But the craven lust for power from youtuber content makers who have no noble purpose other than to perform ADDED to the willingness to seize power through non-electoral means is unprecedented.
There will be a shitshow circus in the House for the next couple years. Still better there than the Senate or WH. The House has always had the worst of the elected officials in the past.

It is amazing how such a small minority weld so much power a lot of the time. Not just in America, though they are one of the main examples.

The conservative base, particularly the far right, who are themselves are often a minority within their own. Yet they are still able to influence the balance of power, legislation, and make laws that go against what the majority of what Americans are actually for. Example, the topic of abortion, gun laws, universal healthcare and gay marriage.

People wonder why stuff never gets done, because most of the time its about political point scoring, and blocking everything you can for four years, and then accusing the opposite party of getting nothing done ever. When you yourself was the source of it all. All you have to do is slip a few of your own into the supreme courts all over the country, and stop your opponent having the majority in any particular house. And have majority influence in the media (amazing how the right wing have the majority of print and visual media in their favor world wide, yet accuse the media of leftie bias). Then the law and constitution gets thrown out the door, and they are able to pass whatever they want based on outdated values and their religious beliefs against what the majority of voters stand for. The republicans are a party for themselves, the rich, and big businesses, not the average American. It is amazing how their own base rabidly lick their boots.

As for the vote for speaker. It is no surprise that things came to this. In no sensible country, should such a small group from the SAME party, hold a massive influence of the rest of it. I mean FFS, over 200 voted in favour of McCarty the whole time, and he won more votes than his closest rival each time. Yet 14 times it was declared no result. The likes of Boebert, Gaetz, MTG should not even be in their positions. Makes me question what the F the voters in their areas were thinking to vote for such controversial, unfit people to hold a position of power? Yanks are a special breed in the head.

You know the system is broken when the minority rules most of the time.

The House often gets those more extreme types. The QGOP all come from ultra-right districts with rusted on tribal voters going back forever. Voters are addicted to media and those zingers and sound bites sway too many.
Others like Cruz, I mean how would you feel if Ted Cruz represented you :sickv1:. Those actually like him because he does what they want as to tax relief for wealthy, keeping the colored folk down, etc. That's his district.
The problem in the last few years is that the crazies had the backing of Fox and the other right wing media. They supported Trump and his idiocy as well as his policies. And so the 'base' was born, and all the relatively normal conservative quiver in fear of being mean tweeted.
And then add McCarthy to the mix. A strong, principled leader would have had a deal already in the works weeks ago, or found a good compromise candidate agreeable to the majority of Rs and even a couple of Ds if need be. McCarthy is uniquely weak and craven.

“The GOP is now controlled completely by MAGA. It is the party of chaos, destruction and is unconcerned with improving the lives of its constituents. The anarchy will only come to an end when Trump and MAGA are completely defeated.” The Lincoln Project (The Lincoln Project is an American political action committee formed in late 2019 by former and current Republicans)

The Lincoln Project: THE LINCOLN PROJECT STATEMENT ON MCCARTHY’S “WIN”

No celebrating McCarthy's “WIN” as there's More chaos to come. The GOP extremist agenda is reckless and irresponsible to anyone who believes in a functioning government.

Great post!

Is trump part of it too? Considering he’s backing McCarthy?

They haven't gotten quite that far, but even among the hardcore supporters the magic is wearing off. There's a lot of frustration that they seem to be the ones 'getting owned' and God-Emperor isn't offering them any solutions (see also: muh voter fraud, Jan 6 'political prisoners,' and this McCarthy thing)

They'll still vote for him, but once that fails again, I'm not sure what they do. They all think DeSantis is now handpicked by the RINOs/Uniparty; some will fall in line with him given enough trans/race bashing. But others seem completely terrified about the state of the country and seem the types to go shoot up electrical substations.

FYI one of the electrical substations was damaged by guys wanting to do a robbery, obviously it didn't work because they got nabbed. Like the end of Scooby-doo- 'I would have got away with it if it wasn't for the darn battery backup'.

I know the US authorities were considering the spate of attacks were domestic terrorism, but I wonder if this more mundane reason is the cause of them, maybe some discussion on social media about disabling substations to enable them to perform crimes safely that some folks acted on. Just a thought and consistent with Hanlon's Razor.

What is it they are actually terrified of?
