How would you rate him from 1 - 10 Zorba, or anyone else who knows hsi work?

Leon Davis 3 years ago.

6/10.

Plenty of room for improvement. I just wonder if he spent all his fight getting back from his knee reco... it was a bad one.

We have gotten him virtually for nothing - we need some players with genuine pace.

We just lost our quickest player!

I don't think we will elevate maccaffer

id rate him a 6-7 out of 10, he could be a fantastic player, good speed and better kicking than rhyce. he will be a good squad player

Has he spent any time in defense BrownDog? I have this feeling he may have and we could be looking at him to play on the small forwards......

I wouldn't recommend it. He's an offensive weapon, I don't really rate him defensively at all.

He sounds promising, and he should be ready to challenge for a spot if he's already played 20 games.

It's a brilliant opportunity for a lad whose future seems to have been uncertain. I trust he'll take this chance by the throat and become a real Collingwood man.:thumbsu:

Anyway you look at it he was a steal. Can't see us getting any better with pick 90 or whatever it was. Should add good depth to our squad and improve the quality of the reserves if he can't make the 22. From what i've seen of him he has been pretty good. Makes me think that we have serious plans to push Thomas and Didak into midfield next year. Thinking we now have Davis, Didak, Thomas, Medhurst, Dick and Corrie. The fact we ousted Shaw and brought in Corrie adds more skill to the team. Can't see us realistically getting O'keefe now?? Imagine if we get Green??

I remember us chasing Corrie a few years back.

This means we'll need to delist one more player...I'd be pretty disappointed if it was Stanley.

Agree with that. If we pick up another laconic HFF who is very very outside and delist one of the few players who has some kind of ability inside out of our younger group it would be crazy.

I know we got him for free and good luck to him. The kid has some real athletic ability. I am just not sure what our fixation with HFF's. Are we planning on filling all gaps on the field with HFF's.

I think the thing people should look at with this trade is not whether we would have gotten better with pick 90. We all know we wouldn't have used it. The more important issue is the spot on the list. With the amount of flashy HFF's who can pinch hit as running outside mid's we have I am really not sure. I'd say all of Thomas, Didak and Davis are and will continue to be better as midfielders then Corrie ever will. So why do we need that many foward flankers.

Didak, Maccaffer, Dick, Thomas, Davis, Medhurst, Corrie. Aswell as Tarks and Cox who are both able to play that role. Of the first 6 Davis and Thomas are the only two with real midfield potential. Any of the others would be restricted to pinch hitting if we are to put together a good midfield IMO.

HE IS RUBBISH!!!! THATS WHY THE LIONS TOOK OUR LATE PICK! He has done NOTHING since being in the system. Again, rubbish trading by the pies!

Even if he turns out rubbish it was pick 7 ffs!! we wouldn't have used it anyway. From what i've seen he has real talent. Why so pessimistic??

He played most of the 2008 season on the half back flank. I would think they will groom him to play that role. He could be a very handy pick up for us. This will meen either Clarke or H Shaw can go into the midfield.

We took your last pick because trades have to involve a two-way exchange.

Corrie > Egan.

I think this trade spells out very clearly that Leon Davis is going to be a fulltime midfielder next year. Judging by his last month of the year in the guts where he was close to the best player going around I think this could work very well for us. Corrie and Dick will be fighting for that small forward opportunist spot.

Thanks for that. Thinking about it a bit more I may have been thinking of Ash McGrath who has spent time in defense.

He's probably worth the punt anyway. I'm looking at our two deals so far as a combination:

In: Corrie, 3rd Round Pick
Out: R. Shaw, 4th Round, 7th Round

We were never going to use pick 93 anyway so it is effectively Corrie for Shaw and we upgraded picks. Sounds reasonable to me especially if we use the upgraded 3rd as part of a deal to get Harris or Green.

Fair enough, but no one rated Medhurst defensively until he came to Collingwood.

Corrie should allow Leon and even the aforementioned Medhurst to spend extra time in the middle.

he will play half back flank...the brissy lions website profile said he played there in the juniors before he got drafted, and he will fill the role of r.shaw. good trade.

I've quite liked Corrie ever since I saw him dominate Div 2 in the U18s years ago. He's got talent. And we've basically given up nothing to get him, so I don't see how we can lose from this deal.
