Which 2 teams should play the season opener?

Why are people determined to see a GF replay? It's the last game for the year that you see, why would you want to see the same game again for the first game of the new season?
I'm happy for Carl v Rich to stay as a traditional opening match, for obvious reasons, but wouldn't care too much if we lost it, as long as it wasn't for a GF rematch.
Would Haw v Geel be the modern equivalent of a Carl v Rich or Ess v Coll type rivalry?
In recent years they have met in round one and the last two haven't exactly been exciting affairs:
2015 - Hawks thrashed Cats 123 to 61
2016 - was a fairly one sided game, apart from a brief comeback by Hawks, followed by a one sided final quarter that blew the margin back out to 30 points.
Doesn't matter who you choose to play, you can't predict the outcomes, or a Freo-like fall from grace. You can still get blowouts and scrappy games when everyone is dusting off the cobwebs.
A lot of our games have been pretty exciting with a comeback of sorts and fairly close finishes (2015 was a bit more one sided from memory).
The biggest problem will be working out which teams play opening game when Carl and Rich have just been in the GF the previous year, but we are a long way from that happening.
