2024.

Talking of streaks, I notice there is another team with looking to continue an interesting streak at Adelaide Oval.

Carlton at the Adelaide Oval:
7 games
0 wins
7 losses
Average losing margin - 63 points

Will they be 'Owen 8' at the Adelaide Oval after this weekend, or will they be 'Juan and 7' (and even get their average Adelaide Oval margin under negative 10 goals)?

A very interesting statistic.
I'm sure neither result will have an impact on our season

Juan and 3 on the other hand...

Yep Blues already have a top 2 spot wrapped up with their 3 wins [emoji38] [emoji1787] [emoji23]

They're even starting to use the term 'dead rubber'.

Oh well, I guess they're accustomed to their season being in the bin by this stage of the year.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm.... I could have sworn I've heard for the last couple of years that Charlie only kicks goals from free kicks and that he's awarded more soft free's than anyone ever in the history of ever???

So he posts a table clearly showing Curnow has kicked the most goals from free kicks, in an attempt to prove Charlie doesn't kick the most goals from free kicks.

Oh my.

They're actually in pretty much the same position they've been in the last 2 years ie 3 wins before their first loss, couldn't even make finals in one of those years [emoji38]

My brain is always turned on.

If I was trying to prove a point, I certainly wouldn't be sharing a table that shows exactly the point that I'm arguing against...

Indeed.

Because a player who has:
1 goal in total, and that goal came from a free kick

Is much more looked after by the umpires than a player who has:
100 goals, 70 of which have come from free kicks.

Percentages....
Ok so the player that kicks 100 goals and has 20 from free kicks is more looked after than the player that has kicked 20 goals and has 18 from free kicks. You know full well given a sample size like we have % trumps raw numbers

Not necessarily.

I'd need more data.

For example, how many free kicks did each player receive that didn't result in goals?

What were the free kicks for?

We're they legitimate?

How many free kicks that should have been paid were missed?

You can't honestly sit there and conclude Charlie doesn't get a fair go from the umpires compared to the other key forwards going around...

When did I say this? I have seen no evidence of preferential treatment - there was even a compilation put together of every free he receuved in 2023 and 95% were just blatant.
