King showed some footage of Chol on first crack. It was pretty damning.

I know he has a laconic style but he was not running hard at all and constantly getting caught behind.

He isn't good enough to be the main target, he needs to be the 2md or 3rd tall.

Firstly we all know that. His job is to be a 2nd or 3rd forward who does relief ruck. We don't expect him to be our leading goal kicker (even though he was). The plan was always Lewis + someone (looking like Dear but we chased JUH, Lukosious, Allen too) and Chol as 3rd. We didn't stop chasing forwards when we got a 2nd ruck/forward.

Also in every single clip they showed, he brought the ball to ground. 0 intercept marks against him.

I'm not saying he had a great game, but people's expectations on him are not the same as the clubs. His forward pressure is Elite, his set shot kicking is excellent, he can take high marks, his ruck work is serviceable.

Nobody was criticising David Hale for kicking 19-25 goals so why hang shit on Chol for kicking 37 and laying 62.

Yep, but (sigh) Chol is going to one of the main whipping boys this season.

Early days but I see gws geelong brisbane as stronger than hawks right now, but hawks now slight premiership favourites.

A lot can happen to improve with our young deep list. Just keep banking the 4 points each week
We just need to keep winning games until the middle of the year to give ourselves some space to reincorporate Lewis into the side any manage niggles.

If we can make the top 4 in good health anything is possible

As of right now with the 3 teams you mention yes I agree that they are stronger than us, however our sole focus should just be to bank as many wins as we possible can until first Clasher comes back and the a little later Lewis. If both those comes back in and hit their straps heading into the finals we'll give the the whole thing a good shake.

Speak of Clasher has anyone heard how his most recent scan went? I assume we'll hear something early in the week. Fingers crossed for good news and a clearer timeline🤞🤞

As much as I want Calsh to come back and dominate, I'm not getting my hopes up (though everything is crossed!). I'm more focused on getting the 25 who are named each week to start playing together as a fully functional team. We're still yet to work out how to best operationalise our fully-switchable players, though we've already seen it done a bit with Sicily and Battle. This will only get better.

I reckon another 22 games under our belt and we'll be humming!

On what basis do you make that assessment? Bris fell over the line v Swans, GWS fell over the line v Demons, Cats had a win at the Cattery. Nothing there that makes them any better.

Positive results from his latest scans. Moved from 5% training load to 30% training load. Increased loads will be assessed for any adverse reactions.

We are certainly better than last year and there were moments in the first 2 games this year and we looked incredible but I can't see what justifies the media love for the hawks this year. I don't think we are there yet.
We were ok last week and still did it with ease. A game like Thurs where we should win easy are my worries Atm

That is gold and every Hawker needs to watch this. From all the external pressure and pile on Mitch was the clubs leader taking all the heat, sticking by his guns, selling our vision ……. which is now starting to take shape like he said!!!!! Geez he’s good
Indeed.

Not saying he wasn't a highly skilled player, he absolutely was. But I reckon he became a champion and a legend mainly through his guile and his footy smarts. And he's now carrying that through from the playing field to the coach's box, and it's serving him extremely well.

He's too wily and savvy an operator to not be close to or as successful a coach as he was a player.

This will be looked back on the same way as the Brendan Gale interview where they were mocking him and Richmond for planning to win 3 flags by 2020.

I read an interview with Sam, back in 2009/2010? When he was still captain. He was talking about the courses he was doing outside of football, as well as the expectations that he placed on himself on being captain. So I would actually say he was more intelligent in general, both academically and emotionally. From my outside opinion, he values hard work, as he himself has worked hard to constantly better himself.

With a prelim up fro grabs it's funny to go back and see all of our thoughts going into this season. Looking at the poll most of us had us making a prelim or winning the flag. IMO no matter what happens from here I think the season has been a success because if anything it showed that last year wasn't a fluke but I'd be lying if I didn't mention that I do feel that we left 1-2 wins on the table that we should've won and come the end of the regular season it was the difference between finishing top 2 / top 4.

A healthy Will Day and I think we're right there with the Cats but it is what it is and the chance is now there to go better than 2024 if we're good enough. Once and only once that happens then we can reassess for the week after.
