Lol how diluted is dream team this year because of Essendon.
On the other hand, some selections have made themselves more clear. After last year Lobbe's price has gone down to $431000 but the WADA decision has meant he will be used more. Being able to select him for ruck will make keeping Stefan Martin or Todd Goldstein under your salary cap that much easier.

Longtime crime reporter for The Age John Silvester has written a good story about the AFL's desire to micro manage everything and spin it actually betrayed the victim in the Dustin Marin incident after she accepted his apology and the AFL and Richmond intervened.

Silvester sets the scene of footy interference

AFL's Dustin Martin said sorry, so why does the victim feel betrayed?

so initially its all sorted between the 2 with a genuine apology and an acceptance of that apology

and this is how they made it worse by the spin merchants

and a bit more

and the woman is left feeling she should have never reported it

so why should we be surprised by the complete bullshit PR spin image protection from the AFL from the day it leaked to Essendon back in February 2013 that the ACC report was coming until the decision yesterday about no top up players.

Silvester even looks at the Collingwood nude photos and finishes off the article with

Disgraceful isn't it.

It reminds me of a doco I saw recently about the treatment of whistleblowers in US government agencies. Essentially their lives get destroyed while the wrongdoers get to lurk in the shadows before returning to business as usual once the heat dies down.

WEST Australian football faces a multi-million dollar shortfall after missing out on the contract to operate the new Perth Stadium.

The WA government on Monday announced that Stadium Australian Operations, the operators of ANZ Stadium in Sydney, was preferred to Domain Stadium operators Perth Stadium Management, the stadium operating arm of the Western Australian Football Commission.

The WAFC yields roughly $15 million net revenue from its current ownership of Domain Stadium that is directly invested back into football development in WA.

WA Premier Colin Barnett made the announcement at Burswood and said that Stadium Australia Operations was the best choice of the four shortlisted operators.

"The 60,000-seat Perth Stadium will be a world-class venue and it is fitting that a world-class operator is appointed," Mr Barnett said.

Be nice if that could have happened here. Yes we are much more progressive here in SA. John Olsen is the Chairman of the SMA for god sake. What hope do we have.

If only we had that here.

Isnt ANZ stadium generally considered one of the worst in the country in terms of management?
No, location, layout and age is s**t though.

The afl are always about damage control, their lack of integrity is appalling. Leave the causes alone if u don't have the balls to back them up.

Location and layout get bagged and fair enough buts what's wrong with the age? First game of sport there was March 1999 and Docklands was March 2000.

6PR sports show will be worth listening to tonight - they have a bloke called Kim Hagdorn who's even more parochial than cRowey. I expect he's already frothing at the mouth about this contract going to 'the eastern states'.

Stadiums age very rapidly these days, particularly one so badly conceived in the first place. I preferred AAMI by FAR!

Thank god for the footy coming back because, Fox footy, did they just give up. The worst content ever. They better not rest on their laurels because they seriously dropped the ball this off season!!

Serious? This is the first time theyve actually bothered to program something in the off season.

All theyve done in the past is put that seasons games on repeat for 6 months

I don't have Foxtel anymore, but I was house sitting for friend who does for the first week and a bit of January.

I really enjoyed the guest programmer thing they were doing.
It was good way to get a footy fix, seeing some old games I hadn't seen years, and some real oldies I had not seen before.

I can't comment on the rest of their off season content though, as I did not have access to it.

And how would the AFL have spun that?

And how would the AFL have spun that?

They shouldn't have got involved, once they were told about it and realised it was a criminal offense they should have told the person to speak to the police, AFL getting involved could potentially see them face a charge of perverting the course of justice given their attempt to manufacture a statement from her about what happened.

Bad luck WAFC. Football has been given a free ride in WA for way too long and between the WAFC and the two AFL clubs their response to that has been to offer the highest ticket prices in the country whilst offering the worst stadium experience in the country. Good riddance.
