2 second round picks.
I kind of get where you're coming from but I disagree with certain elements of your argument (which is fine. I'm happy to disagree).Agreed. All must be competitive to a point to make it to AFL level.
But I disagree with you that all are 'competitive beasts'. They may all be competitive, but not all are competitive beasts.
No doubt, Aish would be fantastic for us in he skills department. But his heads not in it.
He doesn't have the desire to be at North.
Skill with no desire is useless.
We are a proud club, with proud players.
Tarrent could of run when his contract was up and taken more money and played for a bigger club, but he stayed because he loves the club.
Compare the way Tarrent went about it to how Aish is currently.
Its kind of like trying to convince a girl who told you that she doesn't love you that you love her.
**** that....

I'm sick of hearing about this little twerp Aish. If he don't want to come here then **** him! Let's go after someone who wants to wear the jumper.
Look, this isn't meant to be shitting on the bloke, but a bunch of North posters in this thread are massively over-rating Bastinacs market value.
You guys need to prepare yourself for when a deal is done.

I don't believe that a single player attacks a contest thinking "this is a proud club and I'm a proud player". They do so because they are competitive in nature. I feel that of all AFL players, irrespective of whether I think their skills are up to it or not.
Do I believe that Aish has desire to be at NM. No?
Does he have desire for the contest? Based on what I've seen, most likely.
Aish is supposedly nominating Collingwood due to family connections. I'd be willing to bet however that if he landed at NM and was packed off to Utah and preseason, he'd be pretty damn satisfied with the situation (not to mention the extra $100K). We're an inclusive club and he would be made to feel right at home.
Loyalty once you're within a club is one thing, but when you're moving to a new one it's a whole different ballgame!
I do agree with your comments about the girl though. If he ultimately decides to choose another suitor, then best of luck to him. Hope he gets a raging case of herpes from them though!
The idea that midfield competition has been so tight since the addition of Dal is such a fabrication. Dal, Swallow, Wells and Ziebell have missed 64 games between them over the past two seasons. Dal hasn't been as much of a problem for Bastinac than players like Greenwood and Jacobs going past him. Give him another year and Dumont, McKenzie and Garner are just as likely to pass him too.I think a lot of people here are underrating Bastinac's ability, and judging him on his output over the last season.
He has hit rough patch yes. He has been dropped. So was Atley at the halfway point of the year. But he still played 17 games this season. He has played 121 games in 6 seasons, or 20 odd games per year. That's actually a remarkable feat in itself. He also averages a goal every other game, and is a great accumulator of the footy.
Unfortunately, the inclusion of Dal and the 'meat grinder' of Jack, Cunners and Spitta has meant we haven't been able to play him in his ideal position. As a result, his form hasn't been up to the standard that we expected of him. This doesn't mean he isn't a valuable player.
I would only trade him in a deal involving Aish to North. Otherwise, keep him in the side and let him fight for his spot in the side. Given the sub rule is now gone, you need players with his endurance in the side.
I personally feel most people are short sighted and judge players on their output over the last 12 weeks. Over the course of his career, he has been a great player for our club, and if he is to leave, we should be compensated accordingly.
Trade Bastinac for the second round.
Trade Black and one of our late seconds to Freo for Barlow.
Barlow replaces Bastinac.
Barlow is too old and slow for my liking.Trade Bastinac for the second round.

Isn't barlow off the boil?

Best is past him.
I thought he was cooked?Trade Bastinac for the second round.

I do not want to give Bastinac for a bullshit draft pick. So the argument is he is not best 22, well that would be a valid argument if we were guaranteed no injuries.
Keep him, tell him he is contracted, unless of course Brisbane pay up.

I thought he was a little older than that. My mistake. He hasn't looked great this year but is only 27.
I thought he was cooked?
Dead right mate, I also like how people think this club won't suffer injuries, strong depth is good.A lot of people on here are basing his trade value on whether or not he's in our best 22. They need to start factoring in that he is definitely in Brisbane's best 22 and they are willing to pay him $1.6 million by all reports. Plus he's contracted.
That's not a guy we should give up cheaply.
Barlow is too old and slow for my liking.

I stand corrected on age.He is the same age as Higgins.
He also runs a 2.89.
He is a hell of a lot quicker than Ziebell and Cunnington.
