This is one of the strangest press releases I've read,
To me this says * are losing the battle and they're trying to make Hurley the bad guy if he leaves.

Clubs never and shouldn't ever release information on contract negotiations.

It's poor form in my book.
Kevin Durant will be Tweeting the shit out of * fans burning the number 18 Guernsey if Hurley heads to Hawthorn ;)

Essendon needed to offer a long contract and more money to match other clubs, i think they released the statement to let there fans know they want him so if he decides to leave it is on him and not the EFC.

Didn't know where i should post this or if i should post this at all but apparently

If Hurley decides to leaves we are a very good chance of getting him

We have already been promised good Friday starting from next year

And last but not least that there was more to the Lindsey/Umpire story and we wont have to pay the fine

mods feel free to delete this if its not okay to post

I don't see any reason to remove it but that's a lot of big information.

Either you're in the sanctum, have the most apt username on BF or you are a raving lunatic.

i got this from someone that works in the afl but not at the kangas and i would love if someone from the inner sanctum could confirm it

I'm sure if any of it is real it is being kept secret for a reason. At least they are all nice things.

No way though the LT thing gets retracted though. Too much egg on the face of the AFL if it were true.

2/3 is pretty good.

Why not have all three?

Most of us are raving lunatics here anyway!

And of course whether you are a) sanctum , b) apt username or c) raving lunatic. Welcome! Am kind of hoping for a mix of a and c tbh :P

I agree. You would think if he is tossing up whether or not to stay then that article would be the last thing the club should be writing and would only serve to piss Hurley right off.

That said, I hope he is pissed right off and decides to come to North. Tarrant and Hurley as our key backs would be awesome!!

If we could land Hurley (for free) I reckon there's an opportunity there to trade Thompson whilst he still has value to address another area of need i.e. A grade midfielder.

Will see how he comes back over the remainder of the year, but I reckon O'Meara would also be a great get. Would take a bit to get him though. Probably need to give up another good player too. We have a lot of back flankers so I'd go with Atley.

Would our 2017 first pick (GC have plenty of 2016 pick for their academy players - and the won't realise our 2017 pick will actually be pick 18;)), Thompson & Atley for O'Meara and their third pick be a fair trade?

Hurley > Thompson
O'Meara > Atley
at the cost of downgrading from a first to third pick in 2017.

Hurley is going to re sign

He is on the almost the same amount of money now than what he is being rumoured to be offered.

He is a loyal guy

He is 'contracted' for next year (meaning if he were to 're sign' it would almost certainly be to improve his worth to the footy club which should be easy enough with the new CBA coming into effect next year).

You won't be getting Hurley for free. If he does genuinely decide to leave (which he is a better than 50:50 chance to stay according to our source on the Bombers board), then a suitable trade will need to be made. He wont leave us in the lurch. Not that sorta character at all.

If you wish to trade for Hurley, we will almost certainly be asking for a Mason Wood + first rounder. Hurley is the reigning All Australian defender. They don't grow on trees.

Anyways, expecting a back lash from this board, but that is the state of affairs
