This is true - 100% true

But its what weve got. So thats the thread.

Should be taken off the umpires.
Tradition says no, and it's a great television event, but what makes it such a great television event is it's uncertainty (in the name of fairness) lol, fairness isn't a quality clubs or fans look for in footballers.

All's i'm saying is how people rate the Brownlow above the other awards astounds me.

Dusty is the only 1 who had a complete season as he won the norm Smith as well. Thats gotta mean something.
Also jab watson was s**t every other year apart from his drug year. Oh wait he isnt even a brownlow medalist. My mistake...

Dusty
Gaz
Goodes

Then daylight
Dusty wasn’t BOG in the GF. Anyway, Ablett, Judd and Goodes are multiple Brownlow medalists. Nobody else on the list has done that. Now that’s gotta mean something

Over their careers to date.
Ablett
Dangerfield
Goodes
Judd
Black
Cotchin
Buckley
Akermanis
Bartel
Cousins
Mitchell
Ricciuto
Martin
Swan
Priddis
Fyfe
Cooney
Woewodin

Top 2 been in the top 2-3 players in the comp for 5 years , Goodes to Swan had multiple years of good/great without being elite. The bottom 4 had lees good to great years.

Cousins below Cotchin... Did you sleep through the late 90s and 00s

Probably the best I have seen so far..

IMO
1. GAJ
2. Judd
3. Cousins
4. Black
5. Dangerfield
6. Goodes
7. Riccuito
8. Buckley
9. Akermanis
10. Fyfe

12. Bartel
13. Mitchell
14. Martin
15. Cotchin
16. Cooney
17. Priddis
18. Woewoedin

I would expect Dangerfield & Martin to jump up places before the end of their careers end but can only rate on what they have done so far.

Jobe has risen above and transcended minor awards. Petty shinies are worthless in the realms above. Perhaps one day the other mere mortals mentioned in this thread can aspire to the same.

GAJ, Judd, Cousins, Dangerfield, Fyfe & Dusty are the only players who have had seasons where they were clearly the most dominant in the league that year.

I'd probably slot Robert Harvey into 6 ahead of Dangerfield if he was an option.

It’s an odd thread, though fun. I’ll raise you. And let’s whittle down that list some.
How many of those Brownlow winners have captained a Flag?

Not surprised you went there KoolAid.

Imagine how pissed you'd be if he was actually convicted of being a drug cheat.

convicted yes
drug cheat yes
if only the AFL and the eagles had met the obligations of duty of care.......cuz might not be a zombie

Sadly, albeit self inflicted, Cuz is the victim in this. So no need to get defensive about one of the greats of the eagles or the AFL. As a society we need to learn from the past and look after those vulnerable rather than deny the past and rinse and repeat.

He never failed a drug test whilst playing. He was never convicted of being a drug cheat whilst playing.

Your accusations, therefore, are demonstrably false. If you have verifiable proof to suggest otherwise, please provide links.

I thought winning a norm smith medal said that you were BOG in a grandfinal.. 1st guy in history to do it. What a ripper
Dusty won the Norm Smith, but I was surprised he did as in my estimation he was not BOG

Seems to be some pretty big over rating of Simon Black in this thread.

just a quick tally of career brownlow votes sees the list pretty much where I would see it with room to move for those whose careers are still going

ablett 234
Mitchell 227
Judd 210
Swan 186
Black 184
Buckley 178
Dangerfield 165
Goodes 163
Priddis 149
Cousins 148
riciutto 146
martin 134
fyfe 125
cotchin 117
bartel 116
Watson 113 (for arguments sake)
akermanis 107
Cooney 86
Woewodin 57

plenty of room for Dangerfield/fyfe/cotchin/matin to move up the list by careers end and gaz has a couple left in him to extend his already incredible lead!
