My best 22 excluding players unlikely for round 1:

B: Maynard - Goldsack - Langdon
HB: Howe - Moore - Crisp

C: Sidebottom - Beams - Phillips
Fol: Grundy - Pendlebury - Treloar

HF: Thomas - Mihocek - Stephenson
FF: De Goey - Cox - Elliott

Int: Varcoe (fwd), Sier (mid), Mayne (wing), Aish (back)
So you think goldy can match up well with Hawkins

So you think goldy can match up well with Hawkins
That's a fair assumption to me. Roughead won't be able to keep up with Hawkins. While Goldy could take him, most likely Hawkin's match up will be Moore, with Goldy playing the pressure forward role. No reason to me why Goldy shouldn't play ahead of Roughead unless Cox or Grundy are injured.

Hawkins would simply rag doll Goldy all night. Goldy was beaten body on body by Reiwoldt in the prelim badly as well as on the lead.
Even when in the perfect position to spoil, he was easily brushed aside by a forward half Hawkins size.
Hawkins would kick 6 or 7 minimum opposed to Goldy. Must be a big bodied defender like Roughead or preferably Dunne, but Dunne wont be playing. So Roughead it is for me.

Gonna try a team that's a combination of what I'd like and what's realistically going to happen:

FB Maynard Moore Howe
HB Langdon Roughead Crisp
C Sidebottom Pendlebury Phillips
HF Mihocek Cox Hoskin-Elliott
FF Elliott De Goey Stephenson
R Grundy Beams Treloar

Int Varcoe, Daicos, Sier, Aish

Like it, but Hoskin-Elliot is in doubt I reckon. Reckon Greenwood is a lock just based on how the coaches rate him.

I agree, Roughead is the best choice given his body and height.

Who would mind Ratugolea?

Will they also play Taylor or Buzza in the F50?

A fit Wells is a walk up start in any team in the comp.

Q is -- can he get fit?
That’s correct.

People are a bit absent minded about how good he is.

Ofcourse he needs to be fully functioning.

But the 14 games he played for us, when playing was terrific overall.

Imagine him up and about passing to Cox, De Goey, Elliott and co. Be something else.

He is no ball butcher.

He’d be a very valuable piece and would further stretch the opposition.

I think the cats will be tougher than most think
Recruited very wel IMO and I've noticed Hawkins looks the fittest I've seen him for years
He will lead up

C: Sidebottom Adams Phillips
HF: WHE Mihocek Stephenson
F: Elliott Cox Beams
Fol: Grundy Treloar Pendlebury
INT: De Goey JT Reid Sier

EM: Aish Quaynor Goldsack Varcoe
I think you are right about roughhead. You can’t afford to play a Grigg type in the ruck in today’s version of the game. I suspect Roughhead gets the nod on account of this, also they need to start managing Grundys work load if he is to play finals!

Not considered YET

Adams
Howe
Wells
Whe
Shaz
LYNDON
Underdone
Elliott
Wills
(Both 1 season out of 3)

Great players to come in

Brave again.

Sorry mate but Ratagolea will be their second tall forward and second ruck....so who will play on him?

Close, Roughead in, move Goldsack to wing and stick Phillips as emergency

I think you’ll find, the coaches have Phillips as an absolute lock in the 22.
The running the powering through, he’s a lock I’d suggest.

Goldsack is the out I’d think if you have to squeeze one out.
And incredible club man, trier, total dedication but has those limitations that have never marked him bona fide 22.

But just loving the competition for spots.

I respectfully disagree.

He has skill, no doubt, but skill alone isn’t enough. He’s old, fat and slow. Straight up. I’d be both staggered and frankly disappointed to see Wells and Reid get games this year.

Agree he's old, but fit -- and I did say if fit -- he still has pace. I'm assuming fit he's not fat too. But note the respect and cheers for that.

Reid -- now I really worry about him.

That’s a bigfooty repeated thing.

When he did play the 14 games they were fine games.

I know they like him , but they like henrys mobility , game awareness and flexibility as well

Picked Stanley as well , heck Hawkins might have a run too!
Blicavs? Seems plenty of options

Strongly feel that they too will be a strong lead up team
Rohan out of the square and Henry , Hawkins and danger ( resting ) hitting up , more so than big bombs
Dalhause is smart forward player

Certainly like Howe to be playing

First round at least saintly he'll play
Howe out for starters
Rohan will play , been told he's flying ( super coach special)and will operate out of square and WING
He's loving being back home

Sack or crispy are our realistic match ups IMO and we need crisp free

Were no sure thing round 1 ,
Their almost full strength
Us dunney , Adams, Howe , Elliott , whe and wells all not ready IMO

Brave again.

Yes we all want them in , but saintly Howe hasn't had a run yet and Elliott needs more time ,he's after all only had 2 games back against depleted opposition and though looking good (touch wood)

I think/want them both cherry ripe for tigers , wouldn't mind being conservative
That might be brave
Could be logical
