Guy in blue shirt and sunnies is Darren Chandler ex SANFL GM of Footy and Corporate Operations for a few yeas and since 2013 GM of Operations and Commercial at the SMA and 2IC to CEO of SMA Andrew Daniels. I'm pretty sure he was Gleneg's CEO for about 4 years before joining the SANFL.

Darren Chandler not a Port supporter..... i'd say the opposite.

From Ruccis story about NTUA he put this bit about the GDV

http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport...e/news-story/5abb576769e1e5e1c82827111580ce82
The “Game Day Village” — which rates at No. 4 when Power fans are asked to rank their favourite features of the match-day presentation — is caught in a battle for a permanent liquor licence that is critical to its function at the Oval’s southern edge. The Oval’s Stadium Management Authority has presented its points of objection.
.....
Meanwhile, at Alberton, Thomas could well understand if his hardworking events team has begun to develop a tinge of paranoia. The “Game Day Village”, the “NTUA” anthem ... what next? SA Police rule the march from Rundle Mall across the Riverbank footbridge that leads to the “GDV” and precedes the “NTUA” anthem cannot continue because of concerns for public safety? The Port Adelaide events team has delivered — with the AFL recommending other clubs visit the Oval to take notes — a superb game-day experience.

The concepts developed by the Power has ensured the Oval’s success. Now some of the cornerstones of that presentation are being challenged......

Another Rucci article - 3 hours after the first.
http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport...l/news-story/20ed37790c0a595ed32cca266afa3727
PORT ADELAIDE insists it will not have its highly praised and ultra-popular game-day routine for the fans at Adelaide Oval torn apart. The Power board will meet on Friday as the battle to keep the “Game Day Village” at Memorial Drive remains complicated by objections for the Oval’s Stadium Management Authority.
......
Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas told The Advertiser he preferred to defer any club statement on the complicated Game Day Village saga until after Friday’s board meeting at Alberton..................... The future of the “Game Day Village” is locked amid negotiations with the SMA and the State government-appointed liquor and gambling commissioner.

Port Adelaide has — with SA Tennis that holds the lease at Memorial Drive — used temporary licences for the “GDV” on all of the Power’s 11 home matches and some of the Crows’ blockbusters. The club and SA Tennis has been told it must now apply for a permanent licence. This has allowed the SMA to present its objections on the “GDV” where the Power sells beer from a brewer that competes against the official supplier to the Oval — and at a cheaper rate than at the Oval’s bars. The SMA also is concerned with fan behaviour after drinking alcohol, although the authority has its own bar outside the Oval’s southern gate.

and then a couple of posts on page 59 on 7 March 2017 and tribey asked about the GDV objecting to the GDV producing drunks

We might have to find a new GDV location. Construction of the festival plaza/casino area shutting down the bridge, tennis sa looking at redevelopments them selves

PORT Adelaide’s fan-favourite Game Day Village outside Adelaide Oval may need to move from Memorial Drive to secure a liquor licence.

And another key peg in the Power’s award-winning match-day program - the “March from the Mall” - will certainly change as a result of work on the new Festival Plaza restricting access to the Oval along the Riverbank footbridge. The Power has found a new route for its fans from Rundle Mall to the Oval - along King William Rd to enter the Oval on its eastern side rather than the Telstra Southern Plaza. But the GDV at the Memorial Drive tennis courts will have to move if the site manager, SA Tennis, cannot secure a liquor licence. This is complicated by SA Tennis’ own needs in a proposed redevelopment of the tennis centre. Port Adelaide chief executive Keith Thomas told The Advertiser the Power was considering new sites for the GDV should Memorial Drive become unavailable. “Tennis SA has advised us that they are having to reconsider its licensing arrangements for the precinct in readiness for potential re-development,” Thomas said. “This involves many different stakeholders and is always a difficult process.”
......
“So we are determined to keep both,” Thomas said. “The march is definitely on - with a new route. “We’re positive that the march will be even stronger this year with more people using the Eastern Plaza. We are planning a lot of extra activities in that area. “We are working closely with Tennis SA on the GDV. “We have a great, long-term relationship with Tennis SA and we both know the importance of the GDV to our members. The issue is not resolved, but Tennis SA is keeping us informed. “In the meantime, we feel it is prudent to assess other options just in case we aren’t able to continue at Memorial Drive. “Port Adelaide supporters need not worry, however. Our events team has put together a lot other surprises for game day this season.”

post # 1,461 I replied to tribey who asked about the above story

tribey said:
Is this the article that said 'there has been a concern about binge drinking due to cheaper alcohol sales' or was that the one from a few days ago?

The media discourse on the GDV has been such a stitch-up.

I don't know about the other articles but it talks about the process 12 months ago and the SMA back then were concerned.

The GDV was in the headlines 12 months ago as the Oval's Stadium Management Authority challenged the temporary licences issued during Port home games and some Crows blockbusters. There was concerns with binge drinking at the GDV where beer was sold at a cheaper rate than inside the oval.

Isn’t it interesting that someone from the sma can tell straight out lies - gets a view on channel 7, various radio stations, local paper and ABC.

Correct facts are plain to see, no investigation needed but no one even attempts to correct the old boys establishment.

SMA have managed to make this a ‘greedy ports’ thing in order to hide their mismanagement- will buy them 7-8 years until the crows crowds inevitably fall due to the sma greed eventually filtering to them.

Adelaide Oval on the same trajectory as AAMI stadium did from 1997 - 2013.

Our crowds fall first but the crows will follow, just like they did at west lakes.

That is the bit I remember. The SMA trying to justify their exorbitant pricing by saying they were trying to negate drunkenness. This is the same mob that introduced credit card only into their bars.

These guys could not lie straight in bed.

That was a great line. I'm still waiting for them to tell us that a pie costs $5.50 to combat obesity.

We need another venue.
Try the Adelaide University Bar/cloisters area on Victoria Drive.
Negotiate with the student union.
It's close to where we need to be.

Innuendo and hearsay in Rucci’s editorials ain’t going to cut it folks

We need copies of the objections

Would a FOI request work ?
The club will give them to the Select Committee if need be, and then a new PR game starts.

If all KT’s bravado is just bluff then as far as I’m concerned he has to go

If the opposite is true then our club has the responsibility to expose this

The hearing with its privelage status is the right forum and the time is now
Yeah, Nahh... this is the most Port Adelaide of Port Adelaide things we have done in years! Sat back and just gathered evidence, now the time is prime to drop a bomb or two and rock the South Australian establishment. Watch this end up in a Court Room and Port the bad guy, you know the narrative

Nothing will come of this. It never does. With old creeps like Olsen and Hurley on the board with the strings they can pull, anything we say or do will be quashed.
