Free to whack that I’m wrong that’s fine amd his old man put to bed.

Still think it will happen buts that what I was told

the quote wasnt that convincing

time will tell,

I dont think Daniher really wants to leave Essendon.

Looks to me like a guy who's heart is firmly with Essendon but is just confused about whether a change would rejuvenate his career.

Well there are two things that will annoy me & make me unhappy with the club.

1. Paying way too much for a risky proposition based on what he did when fit & healthy & not when mid career after multiple groin surgeries & coming of a non productive two year period.

2. Not getting anyone of note into the club (again) & losing both Jones & Papley because we went too far down the path of shopping them around.

I have a hunch that we may have another one like last season where the highlight was getting Menzel.

Daniher's dad just hosing down speculation to give his son breathing space until the bnf. What was he going to say in front of a room of ex players and staff before it's even been officially announced? "Nope definitely gone, here is the scoop"?

I think both Papley and Daniher want out, but respect their current clubs enough not to weaken their negotiation position by blurting it out so far before trade period.

And that’s the concern we clearly need another quality mid and defender y we haven’t heard us going after some of the blokes available is beyond me if we stand to loose quality we def need to be bringing in some quality established players now surely we have cash

Imo if Daniher was staying he himself would come our and say shut up media and stop hassling myself and the club

maybe

reminds me a bit of tom mitchell and his dad

Bit like papley ...
And he might be loving the media shit pumps up his next deal with Ess he might be looking for
Who knows all I know is if we lose pap and jones and get **** all I’ll b pissed done need a repeat of last years trade period

I find it funny that people on here think that a bloke in his mid 20’s would actually tell their parents what they are actually doing re their employment. Sure they would probably have a brief discussion about the options but the parents won’t be told until they have made the decision and nominated another club and it’s announced to the media.

Also hypotehtically as if his dad would make an announcement

he said the only thing he could say

but i agree, who runs it by your dad every time

With the massive caveat that all this is based on crappy articles but I thought the Daniher trade was quite interesting until one of the recent articles said that one reason he wanted to come is that he still had trouble with his groin while running and wanted to come to us to get it fixed.

If that’s the case we should consider it a massive gamble and, similar to the Sculley trade, offer only a packet of chips and pick 100 for him ;)

could get a live pick before our Academy kids, not the worst thing.

If we get another 10 to 22 games into the likes of Ling, McInnerney, Melican, Blakey, McCartin etc and Naismith is standing at the end of the year and has shown us what he did with in the last 10 weeks of 2016, then a live selection before Gulden and Campbell would be the cherry on top.

8 to 10 wins next year would be perfectly acceptable as to where we are at, at present.

Agree, not for his Dad to announce anything and in reality (while he would know that Joe has a decision to make) he won’t be making that decision.

It’s a shame that Joe wasn’t able to think about this without the media circus.

I never say this stuff, but I've heard from someone supposedly in the know that we are

1. getting daniher and our first pick will be used in the deal. person stated that we dont rate the draft so happy to deal first pick

2. they are confident papley stays

3. Jones going for sure

4. Bennel on his way
I love all of this and would give my left nut for it too pan out that way hope your man is on the money

I suppose it all depends on if family has had the same situation and you can draw on their experiences as a sounding board when needed.

My folks have no idea what I do other than ‘working too hard’ according to my mum. Bless her.
