Does anyone else think Lycett bears a striking resemblance to the Lorax from Dr Seuss?

Nah mate, let's go full Nuke....Cox takes the Centre bounce with Grundy as our BIG clearance mid and then Grundy takes over around the ground.
Our half forwards are league worst. WHE, Thomas, Varcoe, Greenwood, C Brown, Stephenson are first choice and all are absolutely terrible options at the moment. Stephenson, Brown and Hoskin Elliott cannot lay a tackle or put any kind of effective pressure on to save themselves. Teams repel so easily off our half back flank, it looks effortless. I’m so incredibly over it.
Pretty fair summary. Found one in IQ as well I think. Noble as well although he needs to sharpen up his disposal a bit. Too many (and he's not the only one) landing at the feet of his target. Daicos is about the only one clean enough to scoop them up. Moore's defending was great but some of his kicking out from full back was diabolicalNot really a question of effort, just pretty bereft of talent/a semblance of a respectable game-plan.
Varcoe, Stephenson, Thomas, Hoskin-Elliott, Mihocek, Elliott, De Goey, Brown - all no positive impact on the contest.
Adam Treloar continues to get disposals and do nothing with them.
Brodie Grundy is going to be a huge problem over the coming 7 years if this is form to be continued with.
And Tyler Brown may very well be a worse kick than his brother, which is astonishing.
Thought Taylor Adams & Jack Crisp tried hard, as did Madgen/Moore.
Great game Port. You were amazing. Thank god you won. Didn’t want you to play you at Adelaide Oval. Game on. Umpires put the whistle away tonight. Hopefully they’ll do that in the finals series.
To add further insult to the Werther.. Bucks probably sucks on em in the box as well.
Strongly agree, although I think Cox is fine as a forward. Stephenson needs another year but we desperately need some better, pacy and defensively capable forward options. We need to make tough calls and push players out/trade.
Stephenson had an off-season and he's young, not writing him off.
The Cox experiment isn't reliable -when it works, it works, but it's not guaranteed to work every week. I think WHE, Mihocek, Thomas should definitely be on the trade table. Those stocks need to be improved.
Our forward line can't just be De Goey. And he needs smart forwards around him who move and create space for him. He got no space tonight because none of the dumbass forwards know how to check, do dummy leads and lead defenders away from a contest!
Glad someone else noticed itAs an aside; one man’s “credit to Port Adelaide; they’re manning the mark very strongly” is the next’s “they just keep running five metres straight over the mark and don’t get penalised for it!”.
Huge disappointment.I thought we’d win tonight because Port had nothing to win for.How wrong was I?They were a lot hungrier than us and more skilful. We definitely lost it in the middle.Losing centre clearances 14 to 4 gave us no chance of winning, and Grundy’s lame tap work was a big contributor to that.
We also have a completely dysfunctional forward line and get absolutely nothing out of our small forwards.None of them seems to know how to kick a goal,or be front and centre when the ball spills out from a pack. It’s basic forward craft but our forwards don’t do it because they aren’t really forwards, but midfielders trying to be forwards. It’s another black mark in our recruiting,I feel, one that should be owned by Buckley and Hines, because they never recruit specialist players, only utilities who are jack of all trades and masters of none.
Enlighten us all on positives when we continually can’t score every week? What a bunch of bedwetting sooks.
If you softcocks can't find anything positive out of tonight's effort then go and follow a team like Essendon.
Most of you would be the same supporters that would've been cranking one out over Buckley in the last 2 years. Throw your guernseys in the bin, you don't deserve to wear them.
Agree on Quaynor, he was very solid too.Pretty fair summary. Found one in IQ as well I think. Noble as well although he needs to sharpen up his disposal a bit. Too many (and he's not the only one) landing at the feet of his target. Daicos is about the only one clean enough to scoop them up. Moore's defending was great but some of his kicking out from full back was diabolical
Is Anthony Rocca genuinely our ruck coach?
Win that game and we're going into finals with some confidence and playing another second rate side in St Kilda on neutral territory.
Lose and we go into finals devoid of confidence playing a team who's had the wood over us in recent times on their home deck.
Making up the numbers.
Because our coaches are stubborn and aren’t v good strategists.Looks like your up against us in Optus. You usually don't match up well against us.
You done well against them considering you had no Sidey and Howe. Cox looked pretty good when he was targeted in the first half but I noticed they didn't target him that much in the second half I felt he should've been the main target since he looked dangerous when the ball was going to him. Sidey's class and polish would've been useful as Port had the class to wrestle back momentum. I thought Varcoe did the off the ball things well but WHE and Thomas was missing. Moore destroyed Marshall and Roughead nullified Dixon. Madgen was composed down back, Cripps, IQ, Noble, Daicos, were good. Stevo was poor and fumbled too much maybe he's confidence is down but I reckon he has to play against us. De Goey should've been in the centre bounce once Port got those two goals.
I don't know why the team didn't take advantage of Port's undersized backline like Geelong, Brisbane who have an average forward line and St Kilda did where you can maximized Cox's attributes and DeGoey and co can crumb. Your midfield lacks hardness and clearance winning power despite Grundy winning hitouts, bring Sier in otherwise he's going to the Bombers. You look more damaging if you kick it more in the corridor since the top teams except Richmond kick a lot more than they handball. If this continues to happen where Grundy wins taps but midfield gets smashed against us then Shuey and co will have a field day in clearances since Nic Nat is probably the only ruck in the comp who can beat Grundy.
I mean, we were underdogs tonight.Yeah I hear ya comrade....but you know...WCE better do their homework. Cos no club, not one AFL club enjoys the underdog tag as much as we do. Yeah we'll be 100:1 but when our backs are against the wall thats often when we have our finest moments.
I know it seems unlikely atm....but I witnessed 1958 in person and believe me, the 1950's Dees were a much tougher opponent than the Weagles!
If
On the improve? we couldn’t score 50?
Enlighten us on positives when we continually can’t score?
Last one from me. The problem we have is that nothing will change while we are in this zone of doing ok. Just making finals and the odd good game. 10 years later then it’s too late to do anything and your in a rebuild then it’s 20+ years before another chance. We need to move players on, get good draft picks, get a better coach. Just because the boys like him doesn’t mean sh*t, the best coaches are fierce. Seriously Craig Bellamy comes to mind, amazing coach but don’t mess with him. Anyway if we can pull of a miracle and and beat WCE great but some changes need to be started in the off season.
He needs to goSoftest President in the league, and I’m not just talking about his waist
We need a genuine crumbling forward we haven't had one this Davis and krakouer. Why we didn't have a go at getting Butler for peanuts last year is one of the worst mistakes
