I can't stand Dal Santo... here is another one of his puff pieces...

CAN THE PIES REPLACE TRELOAR'S NUMBERS? HOW SHOULD THE DOGS USE HIM?

Nick Dal Santo is confident Collingwood can replace Adam Treloar’s midfield output in 2021.
A key cog for the Magpies, Treloar was traded to the Western Bulldogs in one of the surprises of the trade period.

With the likes of Josh Daicos and Callum Brown ready to step up, Dal Santo can see Collingwood working out a strong midfield rotation without Treloar.
“Can they replace Treloar next year? Midfields in particular have a great ability to fill gaps and fill holes,” Dal Santo told SEN Breakfast.
“Treloar is a superb player and I know he has his knockers in regards to his disposal and probably rightly so and I’m in that camp to a certain degree, but the man finds the football 30 times a game.”
Dal Santo wonders how the Bulldogs will utilise Treloar’s prolific game in their incredibly deep midfield and believes he may be better in a role that sees him feeding the other Dogs midfielders.
“That’s a lot of football even in a shortened game. His next step might be to give it off to better ball users at different times,” he said.
“He’ll be great at the Western Bulldogs, I can promise you that with the likes of Marcus Bontempelli, Jack Macrae, Lachie Hunter, Josh Dunkley and all the other good midfielders.”
The Bulldogs ended up keeping Dunkley despite his request to be traded to Essendon and it will be interesting to see how they utilise him, given his desire to leave was based on his wish to play a more pure midfield role.
However, the Dogs now have to accommodate Treloar in that role to go with Bontempelli, Macrae, Bailey Smith, Tom Liberatore and Hunter.

Nick Dal Santo: "how should the dogs use Treloar. I dunno, maybe feeding the ball to others or something?"

With this level of insight its little wonder that he is (presumably) broadcasting where careers go to die, a summer slot on SEN.

What's wrong with stating the obvious? He was asked how the Bulldogs should use Treloar. How would you answer that question?

Not every statement or answer has to be made from left field, nor does every listener have intimate knowledge like some of us, so what's wrong with informing some of his audience that he isn't as skilled as most of the midfield guns we have?

Dalsanto is almost unlistenable and gives Julian destupid a run for his money

Forward of the pack to allow him to use his burst speed if the ball finds it's way ahead of the stoppage.
I'd have Treloar or Bailey Smith there at every stoppage. They are genuine burst mids with pace, half the clearances we win will become 80m plays. Territory still matters in footy.

He reminds me of an excited puppy when he speaks.

Yap, yap, yap, but that’s all it is, just noise.

Very sorry - misread ! 🧐 it was Andrew HILL. But it did say Western Bulldogs ... 😬

:tearsofjoy: No worries - I still had to google him! No Western Bulldog link at all. Kochie conspiracy? Bad publicity for AFL competitor club ;)

You need to read his opinions with his excitedly rapid voice in your head.

It doesn't help making what you read make any more sense, but it does get you through it very, very quickly.

They must have googled it - I had to....

https://australianfootball.com/players/player/andrew+wills/12902 " and shunted off to the Western Bulldogs in 2000. It proved to be an underwhelming end to his playing career as he generally failed to produce the sparkling form of which he was capable and managed just 10 appearances and 6 goals for the year."

Got to know Willsy a little when I lived in Darwin. He was assistant coach at the club I was involved with (St Marys) and good mates with my best friend. You won’t meet too many better blokes than Willsy.

Was everyone flying/burning up the track/training the house down?
absolutely everyone, even the seagulls were training the house down. Either WO seagulls are more intelligent than MCG seagulls or the Club should invest in either
(a) wires strung between the Grandstand the the lamp posts along Gordon Street; or
(b) a short lease of the WCE pet eagle.

Yes. To their own playlist by the sound of it. Looked like they were having fun. English was the spokesperson - saying yes, he's beefed up. Put on a couple of kilos.

Bulked-up English excited for new ruck partnership

Western Bulldogs ruckman Tim English has added more size to his frame over the pre-season as he prepares to partner recruit Stefan Martin in the club's bid for finals success in 2021.
The Dogs searched for a ruck boost in last year's Trade Period after losing their second straight elimination final, adding former Brisbane big man Martin.
He will combine with English, who has continued to bulk up as he works to be a consistent force against the AFL's best ruckmen. The 23-year-old said the pair had already been working together.

Tim English | "We want to be the best midfield in the comp"
Tall ruckman, Tim English, spoke to the media down at the Kennel.
"I put on another couple of kilos over the off-season and it's obviously a big focus for me after last season and throughout my career so far [I've wanted] to put on a bit more muscle mass. I’ve put on another couple of kilos which is what everyone wants to hear," English said.
"It's finding a balance between putting on the right sort of weight and being able to play to my strengths on the ground.
“It's quite a hard balance to find and it's going to take me a little while but it's really good we've got Stef in now because he's been helping me with putting in little exercises that will help me in that ruck role."
English didn't train with the main group on Wednesday as the Bulldogs hit the track, with the West Australian on a modified program. The Bulldogs have a relatively healthy list a month out from the start of their AAMI Community Series, with former Demon Mitch Hannan among the small group of players on restricted duties as he is managed through his groin concern.
Toby McLean was back running on the sidelines as he recovers from his knee reconstruction, while Taylor Duryea, Josh Bruce, Easton Wood, Aaron Naughton, Tom Liberatore and Cody Weightman were all on lighter duties for the craft and skills session.
Among the Dogs' recruits, a lean Martin was impressive after returning from an injury-hit 2020 with the Lions.
"It's really good for us as a footy club because obviously last season we had myself and Jordon Sweet, who are on the younger side," English said.
"We had Jackson Trengove who played a few seasons in the ruck so he helped in that area but having Stef come across has been really good. I chatted to him over the off-season and he gave me a call and was able to give me a few tips over the off-season. Seeing him in the gym and out on the track and that professionalism he brings it's really going to benefit myself and 'Sweety'."
Prized signing Adam Treloar trained fully, with the ex-Collingwood star combining regularly in drills with fellow midfielder Josh Dunkley.
English said the Dogs' midfielders would have to battle for the prime position.
"It's hard, you have to draw a raffle ticket I think. But as a team we pride ourselves on being really selfless in those midfield roles," he said.
"We have a lot of players vying for those roles but [we have] that selfless team-oriented mindset and end goal that we want to be the best midfield in the comp and everyone has to play their role in that."
