I hope you guys stick to your guns they are notorious for folding at the last minute.
Brad crouch band 3 for example.

Tbh dont really care pick 23 which will blow out to what pick 28? by the time all the bids get matched.

We are usually very accommodating and let players go for well unders something is different this time around.
Agreed this one has a weird tone from the club.

we also usually do our business and move on not try to Dodo it and hold out for the extra 4th rounder…

Get the vibe that we feel the Crows have done something underhanded. The recent trades with Port and Carlton and even the Papley attempt all seemed totally on the up and up with no bad feels at all.

Harley says this.

Jordan Dawson expressed his desire to return home to South Australia. The 24-year old has played 64 matches for the club since his debut in 2017.

Dawson took his game to new a level in 2021, finishing third in the Club Champion Award behind Luke Parker and Jake Lloyd.

“We are really disappointed. Jordan is a fantastic person, he has developed really well in our system for six years now,” Harley said.

“It is important to note that Jordan has requested a trade, he is not a free agent and there are rules in place for free agency where players can ultimately nominate where they want to play their football and that is after eight years of qualification so that is not Jordan’s case.

“He doesn’t tick that box but we acknowledge he has requested a trade to South Australia. Kinnear Beatson and Charlie Gardiner will work their way through that.

“But I think its important for everyone to know that he was and is a big part of our future. We had big plans for Jordan and it was reflected, certainly from an offer that we put in front of Jordan, so if there is to be a negotiation there, we would expect that to be respectful and to reflect his standing at our club and the standing in the competition and potential.”

This absolutely tells me that the clubs wants to keep him.
BUT
Should we trade him, it has to be in our best interests & that means we get the best pick for him. So we are saying to Jordan & the Crows that he has two choices. He signs the terrific contract we have put in front of him or he goes to the South Australian team that gives us the best possible pick.

It may not seem it folks but reading those comments from Harley, the Swans are making this a bidding war between 3 clubs. Crows, Port & Swans.

Jordan & the Crows will not have this all their own way unless the Crows pay up more than what Port will offer us & most importantly, what we feel is fair.
Don't rule Port or the Swans out folks.
IMO of course.

Port offered less $$$ than us….

this is nice in theory but doesn’t generally play out in practise. Only way to force crows to pay market value is all other trades done and north mention they like him and will chat to his manager….

nothing else budges crows from 23 IMO.

personally I would do 23 and a swap of 2022 first picks. They will trade theirs anyway to GC and with their list it may be bottom 5 again

"Port fans seem to have a bit more humility"......are you sure you live here? You haven't heard them shouting "we exist to win premiership" sh*t mantra and we are the most successful AFL club in history with their 30+ premierships when the AFL was established from the VFL and not from the SANFL so somehow they logically brought their SANFL history to the AFL.

And there was no way Port Power would have given you 2 first rounders in pick 16 and Ladham/Hayes who they rate as late 1st rounders for Dawson, at most they would only offer pick 16 which is only 7 picks higher than pick 23 anyway.
If your club doesn't exist to win premierships, what are they even doing?

He's going to be Adelaide's best player.

Who at Adelaide is better than Dawson?

This is their b and f results from this season

1. Rory Laird 123 votes

2. Ben Keays 120 votes

3. Paul Seedsman 105 votes

4. Brodie Smith 93 votes

4. Tom Doedee 93 votes

4. Taylor Walker 93 votes

Oooh!
That's ugly.

1st place is one of the best small defenders of the last 6 or so years who just moved to the midfield at the end of his career.
2nd & 3rd place getters are players who have been fringe players at their previous clubs. Seedsman perhaps the best of those.
Equal 4th place a bloke who's burnt his bridges with some at the club.

Way to go Jordan.
Quality choice!:thumbsu::thumbsu:

He’ll be close to their highest paid player or at least top 5.

Smith and Seedsman are 29.

Interesting language from Sydney..

Dawson WAS and IS important to Sydney's future plans.
Chance of him staying?

Happy Sydney are playing hardball anyway.. sick of feeling reamed on a trade
More of a "well if he stays, he would be worth X to us and we want the trade to reflect that". Also rules out the PSD somewhat if Dawson would be happy enough to stay

If their best players are going to be 30 in 2022 & a racist, they are stuffed.
Like our best players of Parker and Franklin being 30 or older? Hell, all 3 of our captains will be 30+ as well next season

Lol, no.
Our best players this year were Papley, Mills, Dawson(yes he's leaving, but still young), Heeney(I know you think he's inconsistent), McInerney, and even Lloyd(older). Just because our captains are above 30 doesn't mean they're our best players. Rampe and JPK probably wouldn't be top 10. Parker is 28 not 30+, so your only point is that Franklin, who is probably close to being the best player ever, is still one of best above 30.
