What do you think the Club means when it says after every win or loss that teh Club list is far from complete - they have been saying that al year and even when the team was 8-2 W/L.

Here is what was put on display today against a genuine finals side at full strength on their home ground playing for a top4 finish:

1. Genuine battlers with some redeeming qualities that have been good enough for now and who are decent depth and break glass in emergency types

Owies 25yo, 28 career games, still rusty after 5-6 weeks off.
Cottrell - 22yo, 35 games, improved hugely this year
Lob - see Cotters, 58 games.

2. Lack basic AFL 4 quarter football ability - list cloggers

Setterfield
Dow
Fisher - much better than the other two imposters.

3. Genuine List clogger errors

Martin - reportedly proppy pre game, why the f... was he selected? Too good to discard for peanuts imo.

4. Badly out of form for whatever reason

Docherty - reckon he's tired
McKay - schize delivery I50....but out of form....

5. Inexperienced but AFL quality

Durdin
Motlop

With VFL type and list cloggers no team can carry (literally half the side made up such types and expect to win against a team that has NONE.

and then you add the out of form and genuine developing ones...

Carlton has gone in to pretty much every game with 2/3rds of an AFL team all year - on a good day.

Voss has done an OUTSTANDING job and so have the star player at teh Club carrying so much baggage on their backs they have to think twice who to give the ball to - for fear of turnover # 2000 for the quarter ...

I don't know what game most people on here watch or how much thinking they actually put into things - except for bringing their personal needs and entitled expectations to the table...

What exactly did you expect Voss to do when he had to play Fisher and Dow as midfield rotations - I mean really ....one is flaky link man who looks like a player when the team is on top and the other bloke has one forward ( and very slow) gear and hasn't learned to do anything with teh ball =- like as in ANYTHING - except dish off hospital passes to get a 'disposal' stat.

I agree but where is the midfield improvement going to come from?

But but but he got 1 or 2 players right...eventually...big ✅️ from some of the enlightened.

And we're apparently s**t because of a heavy training season because we weren't fit...damn the fitness guy from the last 3 years who didn't get us fit...oh wait...

🤣

If you don't laugh, you cry.
Yep seems to be a sacrosanct name around here

Umm... no... today was poor... massive mindset change required to win again this year. Not impossible, but highly improbable...

When the opposition are laughing and joking about who got to kick the goal you know the game has descended into junk time and we only lifted when Brisbane switched right off but unfortunately when the heat was on we were scared, untidy, indecisive and weak minded.

It’s hard not to think we are completely cooked and don’t have any more shots to fire so sadly I’m expecting more of what we saw in the first 3 quarters today against Melbourne and Collingwood which is a shame given the earlier promise we showed.

Completely agree Fischer no poise receiver who hacks the ball so disappointed you’ve got Motlop first year not fast but has football brain looking for best option kicks 2 gaols with a football brain first option for goal Fischer on his left misses if you can’t kick the # goal find someone who can should be a reliable disposer no time panic merchant has the agility to find time eg 2 steps on the left goal but happy to dispose of the ball to abscond responsibility

Worst side in the eight....the have won 11 GAMES IN A ROW. Eleven. Not 4, not 5, not 8 but 11. You do not fluke your way to 11 wins on a row.

Against Melbourne although they were only 5 points up with 5 minutes to go, Melbourne did not look like scoring at all. Not once, didn't even get close. Collingwood absolutely strangled the living daylights out of Melbourne for a full 5 minutes to end the game.

Let's stop kidding ourselves. If we be Collingwood it would be purely a remarkable form reversal and we have found our form from the first ten rounds, nothing less.
Yes Collingwood are the worst side in the 8, if you flip results under 10 points they are 8-12 right now not 15-5 they have the worst % in the top 10 for a reason. They run all day but when it comes to finals everyone does and their lack of anything else will see them out in straight sets should they make the 4.

I do agree it would take a massive form reversal to win but you can sure as hell expect to be still in the game at 3 quarter time.

Then you are rewarding Carrol for poor VFL form, how is that helping player development?

Big reason these players like dow/lob/setterfield are who they are, got given games when they should have been getting developed at lower levels.

No they are just lame and not up to it. SOS got them wrong.

So much not to like today. Lack of skill, composure, pressure & execution.

Really bugged me to see the aimless jogging and positioning way too far off the Lions opponent. Feel like Dow missed an opportunity but only 9 CB attendances seems underwhelming. Also question the coaching moves: Saad on Cameron and Walsh on Neale actually negated two of our biggest weapons.

So we’re back to where we always knew we’d end up: last game of the season against our greatest rival for a fight and right to play finals. I’ve already got tickets.

Positives
We continue to own defensive arial contests, with weitering much improved tonight. Gov servicable.
Charlie still dangerous.
Motlop is improving.
....
Negatives
Our run out of defence is poor at the moment. Doch is in poor form, saad made to be accountable. No Boyd or williams is hurting. Newman who offers some run, missing too. No quick fix here.

Ruck/Midfield have faded and without that as our main weapon we are not good enough. This then exposes our bottom '6' to do more than they can.

Tdk offering little around ground. Walsh's injury means his spread is ok but lacks power in the contest. Cant question attitude. His decision making though has also been poor in the last month.
Cerra has disappointed, needs to offer more around the ground.
Crippa gives his all but not quite dynamic enough. Injured.
We dont have depth to cover hewitt and kennedy. Dow and setterfield aweful.
Fisher is creative but wont win ball when heat is on. Coaches need to blood more depth. Carrol looks likely.
Chat with stocker over preseason to build up fitness as inside mid. Prep durdin to play some midfield too.
Parkin was never afraid to put his best players on ball, hunter early days, kouta later on. So might be time to try saad or jsos as mids sometimes.

We are a team that need to take marks. Jsos, harry, tdk and curnow dont take enough around the ground. We rely on crippa and kennedy too much. This has also fallen away recently.

Harry and tdk are not aggressive enough at the contest.

Not seeing any quick ways to fix given injuries and depth. If we make finals, i expect us to fall at the first hurdle.

Last weeks lost much worse than tonight, Brisbane at least have class players.

We've hit the wall.
All those injuries have finally caught up with us (which despite how horribly disappointing it is, is reasonable).
We stuffed up selection last week (and the game), which fed straight into us not getting selection right this week.

Being cooked has sapped all our confidence, which becomes a negative spiral. And just get's exacerbated when everything goes against you, like it did today. But we need to toughen up mentally.

Our 7 AA level guns are all way out of form (except maybe Cripps).
We're really missing George (and to a lesser extent Kennedy), a fit Pitto, and Williams or Boyd. Honey should be playing if he's fit.
People shouldn't be expecting our 'bottom 6' to be carrying our guns who are down, who were the reason for our outstanding footy early in the season.

Fisher's going ok.

Bigger issues are TDK, Walsh etc. not hitting the scoreboard....

Not quick fix but I would try McGovern forward demand the ball on a direct lead opine it behind for Charlie McKay we need to score more
