Any chance the bikie arranged a hit on his missus and the contracted killer got the wrong middle aged blonde woman out for a jog?
Days later his missus discovers the plot and resemblance and threatens to spill the beans, he shuts her up followed by himself.

Why would the bikie kill himself after killing his partner if he had already arranged for her to be killed?

Perhaps he felt comfortable having someone else do his dirty work but once it became obvious that an innocent had been killed he decided to finish the job himself and couldnt live with the guilt and/or repercussions if it came to light.

We're talking about a member of a bikie gang 🙄

Im just putting forward a hypothetical scenario, so along those lines it could be that he had a conscience or in keeping with a code, didnt want to deal with the fallout from unwanted attention..

There may be no connection whatsoever, but with the resemblance, timing and location in mind, plus the complete disappearance of SM, its very coincidental.

What was the last time she was actually recorded on video anywhere?
Great question... answered emphatically by police two weeks ago, and covered in this thread repeatedly since about page 5.

They've got specialist investigators in from Crime Command as well. This is not being treated as a case of a woman gone missing while out on a jog, it's more complex than that.

Crime Command's role is to conduct high level specialist investigations to detect, disrupt and prevent serious and organised crime.

Sorry (off topic) but you regional folks can't have your cake and eat it. Your economy depends on a steady influx of tourists from the 'big smoke', and ongoing 'tree-change/sea-change' migration. If we stop visiting and moving there, you'll wither and die.

No we won't. We survived long enough without bloated populations.

Melbourne sucks arse and they are turning the regional towns into the same congested s**t as Melbourne.

Police say they have added the highly experienced detectives "from a number of units across Crime Command and Counter Terrorism Command".

"Those highly skilled detectives have been selected for their experience in complex and protracted investigations," a Victoria Police spokesperson said.

They have not been selected due to the crime theme they currently work

They are and they're not imo. They're clearly holding a lot back but with the information they have given us, we can feel pretty safe in here that our theories of what might have happened, aren't absolutely bonkers at all.

Where ESTA is?.

I finished my training as a CFA, 000 call taker back in 2010. I decided to do it after Carl Williams was murdered at Barwon Prison. I was working the day it happened and while I was manning the boom gate to Bacchus Marsh Rd to keep the press and rubberneckers from Corio out, ESTA called me to do my phone interview. Great timing.

After my training I decided it wasn't for me and never worked a day actually taking calls.

Part of 'technology park' below main Fed Uni campus but owned by uni. Fair deviation if that is in play, plus there's a number of buildings/companies in that area, closer to Main Rd, including IBM.

Not the conclusion I drew!

You left this bit out, the part where that sentence refers to 'terrorism'. I was referring to Crime Command and the possibility of a link to organised crime.

"We have not taken Counter Terrorism detectives because we think her disappearance is terrorism related."

I noticed that too. Could be intentional, wouldn't be the first panel beaters run by or associated with criminals. I was referring to the bikie-wife-murder-suicide-mistaken-identity-link theories in here.

At least there's no invasive drone or vehicle changing colour in this case. Yet.

To whoever asked about access in and out of the bush/tracks, unlike Wonnangatta where vehicles had limited options to leave the area, the area where Samantha is alleged to have at least started her run, people can move through there in 4-wheel vehicles, side by sides, motor bikes, bikes, running, walking, etc. Good luck to police trying to identify EXACTLY who moved about and through that area. Limited onroad vehicle activity at 7am on a Sunday means limited chances of any dashcam footage turning up, even less after nearly 3 weeks. Same with CCTV from buildings. There would be so many blind spots that anyone could have moved through, verified by the limited/non-existent evidence of Samantha herself seemingly captured in any other than the main still.

If there were threats, or even concerns about safety, due to some sort of organised crime link, surely SM wouldn't be out jogging on her own, in or around a forest? But there aren't many other scenarios that seem to fit, at the moment.
Did police say that 'the general public have nothing to be concerned about' very early on, or am I misremembering?

And yet I can't find an answer to that question (When was SM last captured on CCTV?)

If the 7:16am 'runner' was not her, then we have this photo:

But what's the timestamp of this photo? She doesn't look like she's about to go on a run. Was it captured earlier that morning or on a previous day.
And if a previous day, how do we know whether she even spent the night at home?
(Yes, I know there are phone pings, but someone else may have had her phone).

Yes, we've discussed the links between organised crime and the smash repairs/towing industry in here, usually bikies if you weren't aware.

Presumably you mean this:

On the morning Ms Murphy vanished, she was captured on her own CCTV system wearing a maroon/brown singlet and black half-length leggings.

She was later spotted on a neighbour's camera running past their property about 7.16am on Eureka Street in Ballarat East, near the intersection of Warrenheip Rd.

That's what the DM say. Do police say the same?
