Chol out of position my ass, it’s the role he’d wanna be playing. Lewis is in the best 23.

Lewis dominated VFL came back had a good game last week and provided a contest tonight, but being double teamed due to poor spacing.

One of Chol or Dear will probably miss if they cannot fix the spacing issue.

Ironic tho, because I’ve never read something so stupid. Lewis had 70 goals in less than 30 games last time he played fully fit which is better than any other forward bar Gunston.

He’s the monster and big KPF, Chol/Dear the mobile and athletic one and it’ll be one of them missing or fixing the spacing issue. Gunston the roaming.

Lewis got double teamed and rammed without any space at all all night but provided a contest, still had.

7 disposals & 4 marks (1 CM)
1 goal 3 SI
3 tackles
4 1%

Ridiculous take from you.
In fairness, nearly every post from.him is an awful take. At least he is consistent. I'd block him but you need to.laugh from time to time.

Will have an aneurysm when Calsher doesn't play next week 😄

The difference was the 8 unanswered goals in the second quarter.

That's where a Weddel would have made a big difference.

It also suggests that the current formation is unable to keep up with the best teams when it comes to sustained pressure over a full 4 quarters. Potentially need to go back to the selection mix from the Bulldogs win - the best team for 4 quarter pressure, speed and hardball gets.

3 or 4 A graders short of being a contender.

Jai and Meek look tired, Day badly underdone. The midfield looked very much one paced during the second quarter. Too many Sam Mitchell speed mids in there. A player who can take it on and break a line is really necessary.

With Weddel sidelined we need to be subbing into the game raw speed in these big games. We didn't look like we had enough energy.

The Box Hill game today will be a good opportunity for the likes of Serong, Reeves, Beast, Ramsden, Bmac, CJ, Seamus to putctheir hand up for a game next week.

These constant close losses have robbed us of being able to give Meek a week or two off in the last month. He's carried such a huge load all season

Big guy needs a chop out. Chol cameos in there have been good, but the ability to freshen Meek up for September would've been nice.

8:35 to go in the 4th. Watch impey. Gave up on the play completely. Borderline droppable behaviour
Iirc he had busted his gut running to make an option and was free and we stuffed it up again with a silly error and he looked understandably frustrated. The guy played hard all night

Our boys had a good crack kept trying til the end but fell short to a good side on their deck. Sam regularly talks about moments and unfortunately towards the end a few didn’t go our way.

Having the four talls was a little disappointed how we delivered the ball into the forward line often bombing it long on top of their heads instead of hitting up a lead or kicking to advantage. We are not far off the pace ….. keeping this list together over the next few years will turn important moments into our favour more often.

I think this is an important point. A poster somewhere in another thread said we had timed our returns perfectly but I think we ran out of time and were about four weeks short of getting our best team grooved-in. Day is short of condition, Dear and Lewis are lacking game time and the whole set up looks a bit rushed. If we had had four more weeks to bed things in against some weaker opposition we might have been ok but as it stands I think trying to perfect the line-up in big games we can't afford to lose was always going to be hard.

For all that, our mental toughness bothers me still. Freo were down against Collingwood all day but found a way to win. That result and the one tonight could just about be the fulcrum on which both teams top 8 fortunes turn.

Gees we are going to regret that dreadful first round loss against PA.

A few of our guys are not exactly building reputations as big game and big moment players, too. We desperately need another class midfielder as everyone has said.

Very disappointing in the end.
Last year I thought the opposite.
I thought our mental toughness was one of our strengths.

Disappointing to lose a very high intensity game that had such momentum shifts for both teams.

Sicily was brilliant. Gee he was good and yet Tex got to kick two goals late when he did very little else for the night.

Gunston is amazing. Our only tall that earnt his money tonight.

Battle was huge again and is so flexible. A really strong consistent year that has not really got the plaudits externally but he has been a brilliant pick up.

Ginnivan so consistent. Goes when it is his turn and continually reminds of high footy IQ.

Impey is putting together some sort of season. I wish we would play him in the forward line and use another quick in defence.

The Massimo miss late, it was such a heartbreaker. It was well and truly in our grasp if he had kicked that goal. He had a decent game other than the missed shots at goal.

Nice of you to join and then share a view I raised and got belittled on here for the past 2 seasons. Be careful though, his relos are on here and will come after you when you question anything he does.

Worpel’s last few games have earnt him an extended run at Box Hill. We would have been better to continue with the 4 talls as bad as that was. Killed forward momentum repeatedly and 4-5 goals resulted from his horrible decision making. You have to question that he hasn’t truly checked out.
Sic played a good game and was one of our best.
But jeez for a backmen there are times when he just tries to read where the ball and gets himself into no man’s land
and totally forgets or disrespects his opponent.

But when it works he looks a superstar!

Wheni it doesn’t he needs to be held to account.

Feel like we keep getting beaten to what we already should know and plan for. Not tagging Serong other night and Last night Rankine at stoppages. Play Butler and Mackenzie next week. Need more to run through midfield. Can’t play Worpel again. Not sure if he’s getting worse and worse or if it’s just we’re getting better and as team have just gone past him. Killing his FA value

Not too upset to be honest. I thought we were heavily reliant on luck to be as close as we were up until the Mass miss. We got a few gifts to Gunston that aren't always paid and arsey goals to Day and Ginny.
Meanwhile it was business as usual for them after the first quarter and they missed a few very gettable shots that ANB took.
Dawson and Rankine are very classy and I think we've got to be proud of the boys for hanging in there and fighting back the lead after the second quarter onslaught. Go Hawks 🦅

Have a bad feeling about Day. Sam answer to if he is ok in the presser was very odd.. saying he didnt ask the drs about Will as he knew he'd be asked about him
I threw the remote when i saw him coming off 😭
please let it be really bad cramp as he could barely move

Don't let his foot to have gone again, which was my original thought

My theory on Lewis is that he hasn't played in a good team since he started his career. Missed our resurgence last year. Was there at the start when we were ordinary and came back and did his ACL straight away. It could be a situation where he is not quite sure of himself yet in the pecking order. Think he needs a few more games to start getting into the groove we are a totally different team now to when he was the running out there every week. Perhaps needs to play a bit more on instinct.

- What absolutely f***ing kills me is playing the 4 talls and then not being able to create an aerial contest + stoppage either down the line or in the forward 50.
Mark Keane had 21 touches 6 marks are we serious? Then of all people it was Gunners who fixed that issue.

- Fairly sure Meek’s sleep paralysis demon is ROB at this point.

- Season not over and we can take inspiration from Brisbane last year who were average until they weren’t. Even GWS had them on the ropes big time in finals. That’s my coping mechanism at least, your mileage may vary.

- Day and Sicily led from the front. Day shows the gulf in attack on the footy, tough yardstick to be measured by but if we’re serious then most need to be closer to that than they are.

- Butler and Mackenzie have a real opportunity today. Go well lads.

- This one hurts a lot, 0.0 second quarter is just such a killer that we deserved to lose for that alone.

- if Butters can’t happen, I cannot stress enough how much I think the Sam Walsh gamble is worth it.

Was an eye opener, that was pretty much a final and we couldn't get it done. Just scraping into finals we will be playing as the away team and will probably have to travel up north. Thats if we make it at all. Need to win every game from here to make sure of it.

Your joking aren't you, both of Dawson's goals he threw on the boot and they went straight. Brilliant the way he got clear but go back and watch the goals again. Especially the second one. Almost 1 step off balance. Ball wasn't even a drop punt. They chained together alot of free flowing footy with heaps of luck, surging forward, overrunning the ball but accidentally kicking the ball on their follow throughs etc. all that stuff went their way on the night. When we did it we were out of the contest if we fumbled it. They made their own luck yes a little bit of resistance especially in the 2nd quarter alot of that stuff doesn't happen.

He is worth it. Endurance beast with a turn of foot. He would be our 2nd best mid straight away no disrespect to Newk but if this is the play if Butters and Reid are off the table to replace Worpel it's a big upgrade. Just have to make sure he's body is right.

Our best was good. Their best was a fraction better. And we missed a couple in the last that could easily have gone our way and changed the result.

If we make it in, we have enough to compete and hopefully get a couple of wins. Loved Mitch's comment that we are still hoping to play Adelaide in Adelaide in week 1.

We play at that level and we thrash Collingwood at the G.
