The only thing extraordinary is how extraordinarily ordinary the rest of Collingwood's midfield is.

Not a single person worthy of a vote is always going to set Nicky up for a dream run.

Pretty sure 45 year old Steele Sidebottom was your 2nd highest vote getter.

Did Perryman even get a vote? Lotta money for a borderline VFL player.
Are you saying Daicos has single handedly carried the Pies midfield to 3 x top 4 finishes and a flag in his first 4 seasons?

That's quite the wrap!

I think you need to look much closer to home...

'Pies DIDN'T win the flag!'

'Daicos DIDN'T win the Brownlow!'

This is how Carlton supporters get joy out of the AFL nowadays....
Poor old bluebaggers. They never win games but they usually win something - Brownlows, Colemans, Spoons - this year the wheels have fallen off so badly that I don't think anyone will even win their best and fairest.

It's Nick Daicos Day because he's always in contention.
Every day is Nick Daicos Day

On this particular day, he further enhanced his glowing reputation with another massive vote haul

1.24 votes per career game, ridiculous numbers never before contemplated by even the saddest nuffies

And he's got SO MUCH UPSIDE 😆 so many areas he can improve, he's just getting started

Well as you can see theres a few people up in arms. But I guess thats how it is.
Rowell's only taken two contested marks in his career. One of the worst contested marks in the comp. Too soft to compete in the air. He can't go forward and clunk them, so I'll never rate him.

I was joking. Matt Rowell is awesome. So quick to the footy, so strong over it and just drives through tackles.

Nope.
Will be interesting how good he can be when Collingwood rebuild/trade their players which is what going to happen.
Cripps, Fyfe, Ablett all won Brownlows, AFL MVP when their teams sucked. Cant see the same happening with Daicos.

Edited after PF vote release.

They usually do.

23 QF - DNP injured knee
23 PF - received coaches votes
23 GF - received coaches votes
25 QF - received coaches votes
25 PF - no votes
The highest rated player on the ground 25 PF?
No Coaches votes.
Is that right?

Pretty clear the Pies midfield didn’t have as much impact as they might’ve hoped for.
Not what you’d expect from someone you think will be the GOAT.

Correct.

Wasn't the Tormented Tiger narrative Daicos gets coaches votes despite having poor games according to PlaYa RaTinGz?

Players with 100+ Brownlow votes within their first 100 H&A Games

Haydn Bunton snr
Dick Reynolds
Nat Fyfe

With massive vote inflation lately, only 3 of those names mean anything. We're in a land where Wines, Cripps and Rowell are having 36-45 vote seasons.

Cripps to Rowell, inside bull to inside bull

I’m convinced Nick Daicos will win a Brownlow, but maybe later in his career, right now inside mids are indeed just polling through the roof.

Poor old Mr Disengenuos, at it again.

Back in Dick and Bunton's day you had them getting 26-27 votes from 15-16 games with other Brownlow winners
  • Fothergill getting 30+ votes in just 18 games
  • Matthews getting 30+ votes in just 18 games
  • Ryan getting 26 votes in just 18 games
I know you struggle with nuance and detail, but 32 votes in 18 games, and 27 in 15 games extrapolates to 40+ in a 23 round season.

This like you claiming a bloke getting 22 disposals when his team has 350 disposals deserves praise for being in a low disposal era.

Wines was no Bunton, let's put it that way. Still a 36 vote season.

Look at the winners/top 5 totals in the early 2000s to 2010. The players now aren't twice as good, but on vote tallies, the best aren't that far off.

The 90s the distinction was even bigger.

Comparing raw averages between eras means little.
