Pretty tempted to buy a new guernsey and have the number 1 on the back just for the cheap laughs
Will you buying the KMart one then...make it cheaper laughs.

Just sow a 1 into an old guernsey you don't fit into anymore and stretch it around your ageing and ever increasing girth.

Listening to KT on 5AA, it seems like they may have been worried about Ollie's ability to connect/be respected as a leader by the older guys and/or TJ's ability to connect with the younger guys as a leader. I think one or both of these are the driving force behind the decision.
With Wines unlikely to be back to round 3 or 4 at the earliest, I'd find it amusing, in a black humour vein, if we win the 2 - 4 games Wines is out, then lose as soon as he's back.

lol my bet is Wines will have a terrible season because his shoulder is ****ed and needs a reco.

I posted earlier that I heard from a few people the older players wanted Jonas and the younger players wanted Wines, if the players can't get behind one captain well see you later..

Isn't it great to know there are now two players that are at no risk of being dropped for form or match-up issues, in case their precious 'Co-captains will make you 500% stronger, 300% more beautiful and your skin as soft as silk!!!' sales pitch to the Members looks even more flawed.

lol, as if supporters are "losing their minds" just over the co-captaincy. Yeah, in isolation, our reaction looks mental.

But it's just the breaking point for most*, the culmination in a conga-line of clusterf@%kery going back five years now.

And the mealy-mouthed, wishy-washy corporate spin the club keeps putting out only inflames this raging shitshow.

They're fakin 'n' perpetratin and we all know what time it is.

For a professional bullshiter, Kochie can't bullshit for shit.

Just gotta keep reminding myself the club will be here long after these campaigners have done trashing the joint, but fmd, they make it hard.

I'm trying Ringo. I'm trying real hard...

*FWIW, the Liverpool video was it for me coz I will die on this plagiarism hill every single time, you're goddamn right I will, idgaf.
And, just in case anyone is confused, IT IS TIME FOR THE THREE K’S TO **** OFF.

I vividly remember the day my Dad explained to me at a game when I was a young kid that the Port captain always wears number 1 and that it was a sign of the strength of our captain and club that we did this. I have always wondered why other clubs don’t as it just seems to make sense that the captain should stand up and wear number 1. Every time I see the number 1 Port guernsey I get an indescribable feeling of pride, calmness, assurance and confidence. It also makes me think of my Dad. That is literally how I feel for a split second EVERY time I see that jumper. Now that’s been taken away and that magic is never coming back. Heartbreaking. Not sure I will have to stomach to actually watch a game this season.

This defence of Tommy n Ollie as great blokes is imo a nasty distraction. Who has said they're not.
Your point that the playing group are complicit in this is imo probably only 1/2 right.
Have I read on here recently from a poster who has a feel for the club that this idea was at the urgings of KH.
Apologies to Doc if not true but if so he needs to come out and OWN this cluster****.
We've heard bugger all from him for nearly all of the off season and now maybe we know why.
He's an accident waiting to happen.

You are probably right and I have no doubt the deal originates with Hinkley and the Coaching Staff and it maybe a means of covering last year's inadequacies. Ken isn't saying too much other than the 'two Captains equals success' line but it isn't a huge leap to assume that Ken thinks if we had two Captains last year things might have been different. I am not sure what his reasoning would be but I am also not sure of the 'Co Captains equals on field success' in 2019 reasoning either. I am still waiting for someone in the Football department to explain it in detail.

I was going to speculate about personalities but that would be counter productive and would not reverse this unfortunate decision.

I know where you are coming from but I will watch every minute of every game so that I can better appreciate how two Captains brings greater on field success. If this works then all power to Hinkley but if it doesn't someone will need to provide some feasible answers. Going by the latest reports Wines will miss the first month so we will have an acting Co Captain in Hamish Hartlett.

Well, we think that your cherished memories are bullshit and the only reason we are giving you as to why, is it's the vibe of the thing.

Barry Curtin isn’t happy with Ilias.

KT now saying he told ken not to do co-captains but it was kens call in the end.

This is a shambles. Should have let ken go to the suns.

lol if this is true, KT has cracked under the pressure and has heaped it all on Ken.

Knives are being sharpened Ken, old boy. Fail this year and you will be ended.

Port Adelaide CEO Keith Thomas says he told coach Ken Hinkley the club should not break with tradition and elect co-captains if it was a “50-50 call”.
KT has told the FIVEaa sports show:

“The final thing I said to Kenny was, mate, if this is a 50-50 call my sense of it is we shouldn’t do it because there is a significant impact, there’s going to be an impact on this and we value what our members think and feel about it.

“He came back and he said we hear that, we understand it, we respect it but emphatically for the football team right now, in this moment, this is clearly the best proposition for us.

“At that moment we backed it in and there was no doubt about it.”
