Does he mean big four by performance or by off field measures.
By performance, no,
With off field, yes.
Doesn't matter - Richmond, Collingwood, Carlton, Essendon will always be known as the big 4 - irrespective of teams like Hawthorn who have had a period of prolonged success and a booming membership off that success, and others like North Melbourne who also had a great era too.
Its a phrase cemented in an extended period of rivalry backed up by large attendances whenever these clubs meet and irrespective of their positions on the ladder.
As a Pies supporter if we don't win the flag it's not too bad so long as the Tigers, Blues or Bombers don't win it either.
Sorry but another team outside of the 'big 4' winning a flag just doesn't have the same effect on me and I don't hold the same passion.
If I can only make it to a few games a year, I would try and go to a Pies v Blues, Tiges or Bombers game.

Lol, the AFL weren't targeting Richmond, they were targeting teams which play ugly, contested, 'chaos' football of which Richmond are one of a few.
Only Richmond relegated rucking to an after thought, and won a premiership doing so, it was the final straw for the AFL who have been fighting to keep rucking relevant for years (3rd man up etc)

AA FF and AA FB gone, at least we had the first quarter against Carlton, what a dream team that was!
I look forward to people comparing injuries to a 3 time Coleman medallist and a 5x AA FB to a few of their fringe players that miss.

Now try saying it with your teeth in, so we can understand what the f@ck you are on about.

That was the most ridiculous comeback i have read and just illustrates my point, why make a personal attack - quite an erroneous one too but let’s not spoil your delusional state here - in response to someone pondering a quite reasonable question about the efficacy of the governments’ socio-economic planning strategies? You have quite demonstratively proved my hypothesis right there in one post (not to mention your other ones where you clearly show you have some aggression and impulse control challenges) Richmond supporters are possessed of antisocial tendencies and resilience issues.

Ruck contests were a joke when Nank wasn't there. The AFL made the biggest changes to the game we have seen in decades to stop Richmonds system, so change the system. Play a second ruck.

The penny will drop this week hopefully.

Good luck with that when the coach has said during the post-game presser "Two rucks just isn't who we are".

3x free kick differential, nothing you can do against that, cost us a lot of % but still would have lost due to crazy team selection, the definition of stupidity going back to Ellis again and again.

No offence but that is completely wrong. The AFL were targetting the increased stoppages and decreased scoring, which has been a tread going back 20 years. It has nothing to do with Richmond.

A bit touchy aren't we funny man..

Just find it strange that the best trolling you can do after a win over Richmond is to provide comedy critiques to a Hawthorn supporter. Are you not feeling well, because you seem to be missing some golden opportunities elsewhere?

If Moore keeps that sort of hot form up as the weeks go by it’s happy days for the pies. Very calm under pressure like his old man. Impressive.

Umpires had nothing to do with this game. Tigs were slaughtered in the centre bounces and just coughed it up over and again around the ground with fumbles and missed tackles.

Pies piled on the heat and their field kicking was first rate.

Jack Riewoldt is reportedly out for 8 weeks with the wrist according to the age.
Have you got a source for that?

I just tried to Google it and can find nothing. Also how would the age know before any scans?

Are you sure you are not making it up?

Thats the funniest thing you've said - coming from a Hawks supporter trolling a Pies/Tiges Matchday thread.
Shouldn't you be discussing ex Hawks players elsewhere?
Maybe on the Hawks board where someone might laugh at your "jokes"?

Happy to discuss the game BTW...eh "buddy"

What.. that’s a pretty low post, if that. Really? Teams just worked you out. Know how to play your system. Simple.
Not AFL’s fault, please. Nor the umpires when you loss by 44. It’s Richmond fault you have no ruck. Gotten away with it, and now getting shown up for it. Nankervis and Grigg are never going to beat Grundy and Cox. Please. That’s hugely arrogant on your part. Each club has two rucks. Perhaps Richmond should get with the system.

Yes because winning 1 premiership in 30 years against a team who didn't show up is enough reason for the AFL to specifically target your team with rule changes. How'd it work out for them last year with no rule changes and the team that actually won the premiership was the only one of the last 4 to play 2 ruckmen?

Seriously delusional stuff. Keep comments like that to your own board please.

Credit where credit is due though, Richmond really have perfected it. When they won the flag in 2017 there were 7 other teams that scored more than them during the (H&A) season, although they strangled their opponent's, and kicked decent scores themselves during finals.

You're right though, it is not just Richmond, but the problem had become worse. If you take Sydney's 2005 flag out of it (the team the head of the AFL himself called "unattractive and ugly" in their premiership year), the least attacking teams to win a flag in the last 20 years according to squiggle are Bulldogs 2016, Richmond 2017, WC 2018. Not sure the changes will fix it, but I can see why they felt they needed to act to with a recent record like that.

Oh my.. please stop posting dribble.
You don’t play two rucks, and got shown up for it. Again. Have to respect the opposition. I mean Grigg in the ruck last season, you got away with it. Nankervis will get comfortably beaten by nearly all clubs’ and their rucks. Just admit tigers have a huge fault happening.

Moore seems to have cemented the CHB position.
It will be interesting to see if/where they play Scharenberg.

I actually preferred Lynden Dunne as Full Back in our best 22. It looks like he has done his ACL again, great shame.
Roughhead has been playing FB and seems okay - Langdon played well there last year when we had injuries but now he's on interchange.
Buckley remarked tonight in his presser how we have a fair bit of depth in our defense after so many were blooded due to our injury run last year.
