Lots of positives thankfully after the abomination of last week. Cunnington was absolutely outstanding. A treat to watch. Pittard was our best defender today. Hall was electric. Polec classy. LDU took a significant step today. Scott a great quarter and a half before fading badly. Thomas meh but great to see him get a taste. Campbell has a good presence.

A positive and negative. I saw what the coaches see in Turner. He made 4 or 5 absolutely brilliant efforts. On the flip-side he did virtually nothing else. My question is his why are his flaws (and the usual suspects) not held to the same standard as Ahern when Paul's attributes are miles better? Favouritism seems to be the only conceivable answer which is damning.

On the negatives. We lost this simply because we have so many passengers. Avoiding the obvious perpetrators- Tarrant looked well underdone. Atley offered about the same as Simpkin. Tyson butchered it today as much as McDonald, even his goal. McKay took the lumps that he should have last season.

I don't think Macmillan is a good defender and he is a liability while we don't have a defensive 50 that can carry a weak defender who otherwise provides a lot of run and rebound out of the backline.

I am not up for wishing a player to be harmed though or disrespecting them like that, it isn't their fault they haven't been given the tools to be better than they are and haven't been held to a higher standard, that is on the coaches and the club in general. It is not like his bad defending is something that has miraculously arisen this year, he has been a shithouse defender for all of his 141 games, he is going to accumulate 200+ games and he is horrible in his position, that isn't on him, you shouldn't get to 20 games as a defender if you can't defend, that is on the club.

I actually feel bad for him because he has a lot of traits that would otherwise make for a good footballer, he has just been let down by us as a club having standards that are far too low.

Exacerbated by the fact our defense is so shit that he's expected to be the defender answerable for everything.

If you look at his rebound stats- aka, wing where he should be. He's great. 470 odd metres gained and 10 rebound 50s @80%

I personally wasn’t a massive believer when he arrived, but his first two games have been very very good. People often have grievances about error laden footballers, especially those brought in from other clubs. The same negativity circulated around Marley when he started with us.

I was really impressed with him and I think you’re underselling his performance today.

Pittard was arguably our best defender, and most movements he made with and without ball seemed positive.

Luke McDonald it’s obviously been said, needs a spell, rev up and some serious soul searching on what he wants out of his career.

Luke Davies-Uniacke although it’s still early, has shown that he will develop into a top 2 midfielder for us. His ball use and poise stood out today compared to some of our sub par skilled players

Majak, Anderson and Jacobs absence can’t be understated. High balls into our D50 look dangerous now that Maj isn’t there
And you just had to see how easily Neale sliced through the middle endlessly would have been severely quelled if Anderson and Jacobs were there.

He got it almost 40 times but was a whole 5 points under his 2 yr average for CD ranking (5 is a lot).

Our bottom 6 was really bad that's the problem, the new players we get should be used to push out the dead wood. The big problem for us probably stems from the back-line. It's probably time we start cutting out the deadwood. The macmillans, thompson, wright, mcdonald needs to go. Out of this group mcdonald has a role to play in the midfield. Need more attacking aggressive line breaking players, pittard is a good choice, need more counter attacking players.

He was never given the toolset of a defender.

He's far better at spotting up a target up the field and a decent shot on goal.

I think if Hawthorn picked him up they would have turned him into a better footballer, they would unlikely have picked him because he was neither fast or a great kick but I think they are better at preparing players and coaching them, their list is dogshit and they are playing like a contender because of how good they are in the football department. We should have used the warchest to pinch their football department/coach, ours blows by comparison.

Most disappointing part was that the new guys, with the exception of Tyson, all played pretty well to very well.

So many down on last year's form and a couple (guess who) I've just about given up on.

Ziebell is frankly not giving us enough either.
