Just chattes to the GWS lads and where abouts for a mini draft pick. It is difficult this early to guage but they're thinking either 5-10 pick or first rounder plus needed player eg TDL or Pyke etc or maybe just eski and a token pick.

If that means we land martin i would be ok with those last two propositions.

I thought you didn't like people thinking you knew little about footy...

I was more playing up my dislike of Grundy that everyone knows I have.

Was serviceable on the weekend mind you, maybe he's turned a corner.

I'd rather us look at key backs than key forwards, we have plenty of young forwards in Reid, Walsh, White, Spangher and I'm also of the opinion that Lockyer will end up in a forward role of some sort.

Just looking at our young key backs we have.... Johnson. That is it, unless Spangher has another crack but let's be honest he was pretty woeful for west coast here. These guys take time to develop and with LRT and Richards both 29 this year and with Grundy at 26 I'm genuinely worried about the position, unless we trade in some players.

Surprised Ben Kennedy hasn't been mentioned yet.

Brent Harvey-esque. Small forward/mid with apparently great pace, acceleration, agility. Only knock on him is his size (175ish)

More so because of our need for KPP is so much greater atm

Yeah, maybe. Just don't seem to be that many quality KPF's this year though, and maybe not many who will actually fall to us.

That being said, I saw a thread on that other board that mentions Josh Dunkley being available in two years time. Defs one to look out for come U/16 time

Tall forwards i would agree with you but we already have to many tall defenders with

Richards
Grundy
Johnson
LRT
Spangher

Grundy is good, Richards is now almost 30 and has 2-3 years left, Johnson I think will make a good 3rd defender and is an awkward size for a KPP, LRT see Ted and I would play Spangher up forward, he seems natural as a forward and provides a good presence.

I think one of White/Everitt will have to be delisted at the end of the year if we are going to draft a Key Forward.

But does anyone else think we could do with a small forward like Stephen Milne or along the lines of a smart, fast, forward who knows how to crumb, etc?

Think we have tdl filling that role nicely.

Anyway a few mock up from chris and knight mare have us grabbing

1st rounder:
Tim Membrey- looks a 3rd forward
Tanner Smith- pure KPD

2nd rounder
Tom Clurey-KPD defender
Chris Yarran- forward/mid. Seems to be a 'silk' player

3rd rounder
Tyler Blake- small/mid de
So it seems that the perceived need for the swans is KDP. I'd like us to reach and.grab Luccoon who has come on as a forward or paparone if he drops to our first. Then go for the best KPD available. In an ideal world i'd like us to land jaksch with our first.

I am watching the U18 Championships now and i thought of drafting.

The Swans have a small problem this year. Lets say we finish 5th (which is what my ladder predictor says we will finish) that means at best we will have pick 14 (probably worse) but what the Swans need more than anything else is a key marking forward. Any key marking forward that is worth anything will almost certainly be gone by pick 10 so even though we need to boost our forward line quite a bit we can't really do that with pick 14 unless we want to draft a small forward (and we have not had a lot of luck with those).

I am watching him now and does anyone think that Jesse Hogan might be worth a look? He seems to be potentially very good and more importantly is that he is a part of GWS's mini draft so we could deal directly with GWS if we want him rather than having to hope he will fall to our dodgy draft pick.

Or we go after some bloke running around at the Pies at the moment who seems keen to get a better deal than what he's being offered.

I certainly would not say no to Travis Cloke as i think he could turn us into a premiership contender (and i also think we have space in the cap for him) but at this stage it is looking more likely he is going to stay at Collingwood.

How is it looking more and more likely? He mentioned the offer from Freo on national TV, and Buckley has said players looking for more than they were worth would soon find themselves on the outer. I would rate Cloke staying at the Pies as incredibly low, reckon there's a rift growing there. Still, he claims he wants to play out his career there so who knows.

Well and truly gone by our pick. Would fit a need of a project ruck. Ah well.

Anyway a few blokes that should have looked at were SA: Luccon, Mayes, Grundy, Brand, Kennesy and Amish for next year.
Wa: Shaw, hogan, paparone, yarran, martin and rodda

Briefly anyway

Absoloute bizar one for you lads and ladies.

Tasmanian wicketkeepr Brady Jones has turned down a contract offer from the Tasmanian tigers as they lose Tom Triffit to WA. The reason been cited is Jones is nominating for the draft and has bee ngiven strong encouragment by Sydney. Jones plays for Clarence has a kamakazee attack on the football, moves relitvly quickly but skills, even in the TSL can be pretty poor. Thats the story.
