What do people think the offer from GWS was that we rejected, and what do you think we'd have to add to pick 7 to get 9 + 11?

7 + 27 + future second. Still weighted in our favour IMO but it really depends how much the giants want 7 for Jones (ahead of Adelaide) or Ben King (ahead of us and maybe Adelaide)

Unfortunately I don’t see us taking him.

In the situation of us having pick 10 plus 15. Clark will get picked up with pick 8 or 9.

I think both GWS and Adelaide are more keen on Caldwell and Chayce Jones. Even if he goes I’d still be happy grabbing Sturt a little early and maybe a RCD with 15.

Could still get Smith at 9 if GWS/Adelaide go Jones/Caldwell/King in some combination.

Then Clark a chance at 11. Would be quite the move if it all works out. Obviously a long shot though.

Why do people persist with insinuating Smith is a "great result"?

Nobody is a great result until they've proven it at AFL level.

Ah well.. I guess we close this thread, stop discussions and not give any opinions until players in the draft have proven themselves at AFL level.
There's a difference between thinking someone is the best choice, and categorically labeling a selection a "great result". If anything, the latter is what discourages discussion. Might be a bit beyond you.

Says the guy stating as fact where draftees are going to be picked up
Only what's glaringly obvious. If you think GC are going to take both Kings at this point, you might as well believe Carlton could pass on Walsh.

I don't know what is going to happen. Neither do you or anyone else, it is a guess based on what draftee a particular supporter wants their club to land. By all means discuss possibilities but labelling some as likely or fact is stupid especially given we now have live trading

Carlton could also pick a number of players at pick 1. Just because the media think it is a done deal does not mean it is

It's sad that a team with Picks 2, 3, and 6 cannot have access to good talent because they don't want to go there or will only go
if they can bring a friend. The King twins to Gold Coast is sound logic, but it's not a level playing field. Sam Walsh is a very safe
pick at one there are two others who could go one based on talent alone.

Have to land that second pick before the west bid.

What’s more likely and what’s preferable??

1. 7, 27 and something else (45 or a future pick swap in their favour) for 10 and 15 with port.

2. 27 and something (45 or a future pick swap in their favour) for 20 from west coast.

Who might be available at 10 and 15??

Is West possibly getting nominated at 14 (first scenario) or 19 (second scenario) factored in for you? Do you see that as an acceptable risk?

West not invited to Draft so at this stage no one is planning a first round bid. Well know if he gets an invite a first round bid could be on the cards but at this stage we can feel confident that any first round pick we trade for will be used before a West bid.
There's a rumour that Richmond want to trade down if the prospect they like is gone before their first (can't remember who it was) so maybe on the night we can move 27 and 32 for 17 and 64.
45, 63 & 64 will all move up as Sydney Collingwood and North's picks get eaten up so I'd be pretty confident we'd have enough points to cover a second round bid on West.63&64 probably end up closer to 53&54. Might have to go into deficit on Khamis but would be worth it.
