If we match a bid on Quaynor day at 15 or earlier, how can we trade a future pick to get say a Hill today 18 if we don’t have a first rounder in 2019? Can we trade a 2020 pick?

Matching the bid counts as taking/using a first round pick. So we’d of had no first round in 2015 or 2016 Stephenson in 2017 and IQ in 2018. We can therefore trade our 2020 1st round pick.

Pretty sure you can only trade 1 year in advance? You can't trade 2020 picks in 2018 unless im mistaken..

Snoop Dog interesting player you have listed for us (potentially):
Who would he play like and long term could you see him as a regular senior player ie: suitable long term forward for us with real ability?

57 Collingwood

Noah Gown / Gippsland Power / 194cm

Had a super finish to the year and was a player I really enjoyed watching. Seemed to me to be a key forward who understand the craft. Thought his leading patterns were good and when he was out of position used his body well. Having said that I thought sometimes he tried to win the contest from the square a bit often and rely on that body work to much. He wont get away with that at AFL level and I think that might be a question on him. Can he play other roles? Not sure but certainly one you would look at.

Few of you have asked when my Mock was coming out. Dropped it in last Friday. Link below.

Great job Snoop. Always an informative read.

My only question is whether we will have 3 picks or 4. By my count we only have 3 open list spots, once we promote Thomas and Mihocek. Do you have any insight as to whether that is what we will do?

Wouldn't surprise me if our live draft haul is purely NGA and FS picks (IQ, Kelly and Atu B).

So it’s just the first round on the opening night? So we’re basically hoping to have nothing to do until day 2...

Yes first round only on Day 1. Remainder of ND and Rookie draft on Day 2.

I'm happy to have a pick on day 1 as long as it is right at the back end of the first round (17-19). If bids on Blakey and Thomas come in before IQ then 41 and 44 will come forward slightly and give us the majority of the points needed to match a bid around that range. Sounds like matching a first round bid also satisfies the use of a first round pick; enabling more flexibility in the next two seasons to trade a future first pick.

Collingwood media can then go to town on night 1 with all the welcome videos/interviews for IQ by himself.

He is a player I’ve seen quite a bit of and know a bit about. In short the kid has undeniable talent. He was pegged more as a back and got thrown forward through the year. He leads really well and he leads in the V. He has super hands which tells me he reads it well off the boot which forwards must do. He also has a great kicking action. It’s the reading it in the air which I like and it’s evidenced when he does go one out. Very good at positioning his opponent. He will need time bc i suspect a couple of areas around his running that need work but it’s ok. My hesitation is it’s very rare elite forwards found late but he has played back and has scope there.

We have 4 but leaves us no live rookie selections. I think you are right they will go 3 and one in rookie which I suspect will be Atu. Personally I think Atu might get bid. Hope not but reasonable chance when I went through process and number of clubs looking for his type.

I was very surprised to see the article on the AFL website that said that Collingwood has not committed to re rookying any players. I thought that we were committed to Broomhead and Murray. have I misunderstood?

To ask Atu B?
Does he look a real senior long term player?

I do always ask about that, as I’m keen to know their viability as a long term piece v just a shot in the dark and maybe they play a handful of games?

I do love how deep our list goes as very high medium levels across the board notwithstanding the top liners.
As an example even Wills could play reasonably at senior level. He likely now misses out on that longer term
But very good medium level depth.

yeah me to. I think they have that wrong as think read something where Guy had committed to that in a press release. i think less with Murray.

I think he does. Atu hasnt had the development pathway of others and his trajectory this year has been v good. To be fair Knightmare was more convinced earlier than me (I probably didnt get there til later i the year). He just does some things both offensively and defensively which make me stand up and go he could certainly play a role. He is on the cusp of national and rookie and to be fair I had him in the National only bc I didnt think we would have a live pick in the rookie and that we would have to therefore potentially leave a spot free for him. I think that may have changed so you might see me alter that.
